108mAg and110mAg in Crassostrea gigas

Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry Articles, 1992
Accumulation of radiosilver108mAg and110mAg in oysters (Crassostrea gigas) and their behavior in marine environments has been studied in the northeast Pacific coast in Japan. Enrichment of radiosilver in oysters depends on topographical conditions; significant bioaccumulation occurred in open bays, while it was hardly observed in bays with narrow ...

Broodstock management of Crassostrea gigas

Aquaculture, 1980
Abstract The results of time-course conditioning trials indicate that there is an optimum conditioning interval during which the proportion of viable gametes is at a maximum. When matings are accomplished before or after this optimum interval, reduced gamete viability results.

Haplosporidiosis of the Pacific oyster, Crassostrea gigas

Journal of Invertebrate Pathology, 1991
Haplosporidan parasites were observed in 10/100 spat and 1/171 adult Pacific oysters, Crassostrea gigas, reared in Matsushima Bay, Japan. Eight of the infected spat contained mild to severe plasmodial infections. The multinucleated plasmodia were 6-12 microm x 7-15 microm and were associated with an infiltration of hemocytes that occurred throughout ...

Antihypertensive activity of polysaccharide from Crassostrea gigas

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2016
Water-soluble polysaccharide was extracted from Crassostrea gigas by hydrolysis with flavourzyme and filtered, ultrafiltered and precipitated using absolute ethanol. Sugar composition analysis performed on the C. gigas polysaccharide (CGP) by high performance liquid chromatography indicated that it was comprised primarily of glucose, and its molecular ...

Avoiding polyspermy in oyster (Crassostrea gigas)

Aquaculture, 1988
Abstract Polyspermy was assayed by counting sperm pronuclei in orcein-stained eggs of Crassostrea gigas with ordinary light microscopy. When oocytes were inseminated within 15 min of their mechanical removal from the ovary, they became highly polyspermic, for example, 54% polyspermy with external sperm oocyte ratios as low as 30.
