Origin of octameric creatine kinases

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1998
Mitochondrial creatine kinase (MiCK) occurs primarily as an octameric form localized in the mitochondrial intermembrane compartment in vertebrate tissues and echinoderm spermatozoa (both deuterostome groups). The octameric quaternary structure is thought to play important functional and enzyme targeting roles.

Ischemic Myocardium Targeting Peptide‐Guided Nanobubbles for Multimodal Imaging and Treatment of Coronary Microvascular Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Nanobubbles functionalized with indocyanine green and ischemic myocardium‐targeting peptide effectively target cardiomyocytes and enable the multimodal (fluorescence, ultrasonic, and photoacoustic) imaging of ischemic myocardium in mice with coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD).

Wearable Systems of Reconfigurable Microneedle Electrode Array for Subcutaneous Multiplexed Recording of Myoelectric and Electrochemical Signals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A reconfigurable microneedle electrode array integrated system is developed for minimally invasive and transdermal monitoring of subcutaneous electromyography, reactive oxygen species, and pH values. By assembling discrete thumbtack‐shaped microneedles into an array, the system enables multi‐parameter detection with single‐microneedle resolution.

Expanding the phenotypic variability of MORC2 gene mutations: From Charcot‐Marie‐Tooth disease to late‐onset pure motor neuropathy

open access: yesHuman Mutation, Volume 43, Issue 12, Page 1898-1908, December 2022., 2022
Expanding the phenotypic variability of MORC2 gene mutations: From Charcot‐Marie‐Tooth disease to late‐onset pure motor neuropathy Abstract MORC2 gene encodes a ubiquitously expressed nuclear protein involved in chromatin remodeling, DNA repair, and transcriptional regulation. Heterozygous mutations in MORC2 gene have been associated with a spectrum of

The effect of estrogen on muscle damage biomarkers following prolonged aerobic exercise in eumenorrheic women

open access: yesBiology of Sport, 2015
This study assessed the influence of estrogen (E 2 ) on muscle damage biomarkers [skeletal muscle - creatine kinase (CK); cardiac muscle - CK-MB] responses to prolonged aerobic exercise.

Antigen‐Targeting Inserted Nanomicelles Guide Pre‐Existing Immunity to Kill Head and Neck Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces a tumor‐targeted nanomicelle platform (preS1‐pHLIP) that exploits pre‐existing antiviral immunity to combat heterogeneous cancers. By delivering viral antigens to label tumors as virus‐like targets, the nanomicelles activate antiviral B and T cells, triggering in situ tumor lysis.

A Model of the Roles of Essential Kinases in the Induction and Expression of Late Long-Term Potentiation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The induction of late long-term potentiation (L-LTP) involves complex interactions among second messenger cascades. To gain insights into these interactions, a mathematical model was developed for L-LTP induction in the CA1 region of the hippocampus. The differential equation-based model represents actions of protein kinase A (PKA), MAP kinase (MAPK ...

Bench-to-bedside review: Rhabdomyolysis – an overview for clinicians [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Rhabdomyolysis ranges from an asymptomatic illness with elevation in the creatine kinase level to a life-threatening condition associated with extreme elevations in creatine kinase, electrolyte imbalances, acute renal failure and disseminated ...

Therapeutic Delivery of circDYM by Perillyl Alcohol Nanoemulsion Alleviates LPS‐Induced Depressive‐Like Behaviors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
PANEs are specifically designed to enhance the brain delivery efficiency of circDYM compared to commercialized lipid nanoparticles (LNPs). Intranasal administration of PANE‐circDYM effectively alleviated LPS‐induced depressive‐like behaviors by mitigating neuroinflammation and promoting neuroplasticity.
