SLC6A8-mediated creatine uptake suppresses ERK2-FSP1 signaling and induces ferroptosis in colorectal cancer

open access: yesCell Reports
Summary: Tumor metabolic reprogramming is critical for providing energy to support proliferation and resistance to stress-induced cell death. However, the regulatory mechanisms linking these processes remain incompletely understood.

The Effect of Dry Cupping Therapy and Creatine Supplementation on Lactic Acid, Lactate Dehydrogenase and Creatine Kinase in Plasma Following Wingate Anaerobic Test in Male Handball Players

open access: yesComplementary Medicine Journal of Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, 2022
Objective Optimum recovery can prevent the athlete's functional capacity from falling between training sessions or competitions. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of dry cupping therapy and creatine supplementation on lactic acid, lactate ...

Nanoparticle‐Modified Nanofibers Induce Ferroptosis and Stimulate Antitumor Immunity for Melanoma Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a nanoparticle‐embedded nanofiber (5F/STFM/R‐ES) to inhibit melanoma growth and reduce the risk of metastasis and recurrence. The drug delivery system induces ferroptosis and potentiates immunotherapy through resiquimod (R848) and Fe/Mn‐based metal‐polyphenol networks (TFM).

Both Creatine and Its Product Phosphocreatine Reduce Oxidative Stress and Afford Neuroprotection in an Parkinson’s Model

open access: yesASN Neuro, 2014
Creatine is the substrate for creatine kinase in the synthesis of phosphocreatine (PCr). This energetic system is endowed of antioxidant and neuroprotective properties and plays a pivotal role in brain energy homeostasis. The purpose of this study was to

Smad7:β-catenin Complex Regulates Myogenic Gene Transcription [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Recent reports indicate that Smad7 promotes skeletal muscle differentiation and growth. We previously documented a non-canonical role of nuclear Smad7 during myogenesis, independent of its role in TGF-β signaling.

Regulation of Creatine Kinase by ASB9 [PDF]

open access: yesBiophysical Journal, 2014
Creatine kinases (CKs) regulate ATP levels at sites of fluctuating energy demands. Reduced CK activity has been implicated in diseases such as heart failure and multiple sclerosis, however little is known about CK regulation. Ankyrin repeat and SOCS box-containing protein, ASB9, (part of an E3 ubiquitin ligase) has been shown to promote proteasomal ...

Neurophilic Biomimetic Lipoprotein‐Mediated Targeted Nerve Growth Factor Delivery for Traumatic Brain Injury Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Design of neurophilic biomimetic lipoprotein for intracerebral delivery of nerve growth factor (NGF) to traumatic brain injury (TBI). Nc‐rHDL@P can cross the BBB through ApoE3‐receptors interaction and target neurons via αRDP‐nAChR interaction. Nc‐rHDL@P delivers NGF to the lesion sites, rescues neurons, curbs inflammation, boosts sensorimotor and ...

Increased postictal creatine kinase in epilepsy patients

open access: yesЭпилепсия и пароксизмальные состояния
Excessive muscle activity during generalized convulsive seizures in epilepsy patients in some cases can cause significant changes in blood plasma biochemical parameters, increased level of a set of metabolites, particularly, serum creatine kinase ...
