Credit, Employment, and the COVID Crisis

open access: yesLSE Public Policy Review, 2021
Pandemic-motivated lockdowns can expose firms to a vicious cycle: they cannot borrow enough to keep paying wages and are forced to dismiss workers; the dismissal of workers in turn reduces future productivity, sales, and profits; and those bleak ...

Credit cycles and macro fundamentals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We study the relation between the credit cycle and macro economic fundamentals in an intensity based framework. Using rating transition and default data of U.S. corporates from Standard and Poor’s over the period 1980–2005 we directly estimate the credit

The Non-Bank Credit Cycle

open access: yesFinance and Economics Discussion Series, 2018
We investigate the cyclical properties of non-bank credit and its relevance for financial stability. We construct a measure of non-bank credit for a large sample of countries and find that its cyclical properties differ from those of bank credit.

Effect of price-sensitive demand and default risk on optimal credit period and cycle time for a deteriorating inventory model

open access: yesRAIRO Oper. Res., 2020
In this paper, we formulate and solve an economic order quantity model with default risk. Our main purpose is to investigate retailer’s optimal replenishment time and credit period for deteriorating items under selling price-dependent demand while ...

Beyond Presumptions: Toward Mechanistic Clarity in Metal‐Free Carbon Catalysts for Electrochemical H2O2 Production via Data Science

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐free carbon catalysts enable the sustainable synthesis of hydrogen peroxide via two‐electron oxygen reduction; however, active site complexity continues to hinder reliable interpretation. This review critiques correlation‐based approaches and highlights the importance of orthogonal experimental designs, standardized catalyst passports ...

Fiscal multipliers across the credit cycle

open access: yesJournal of macroeconomics, 2016
This paper studies the differences between fiscal multipliers in OECD economies across the credit cycle. Impulse responses are obtained using a state-dependent model with direct projections, in which multipliers depend on the state of credit markets ...

Economic Low‐Carbon Chemical Production via Paired Electrolysis of Carbon Monoxide (CO) and 5‐hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF)

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Replacing CO2 with CO at the cathode and integrating a catholyte‐layer membrane electrode assembly transforms paired electrolysis into a stable platform for co‐producing ethylene and 2,5‐furandicarboxylic acid. Combined experimental and techno‐economic analyses identify carbon monoxide and 5‐hydroxymethylfurfural as the most compatible pairing ...

Sensitive and Spatially‐Resolved Electrochemiluminescence via Micropatterning

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
The use of a simple silica nanoparticle surface coating and patterning process can transform ordinary gold electrodes into multiplexed ECL sensing electrodes. Through spatially confined droplet formation and local ECL emission, it is possible to perform multiple analyses simultaneously from individual locations as well as intensify the ECL signal by as

Evaluating applicants’ credit capability for banking facilities by qualitative and operational indicators [PDF]

open access: yesAccounting, 2016
Consumer credit risk assessment involves the implementation of risk assessment techniques to manage a borrower’s account from the event of pre-screening a potential application through to the management of the account during its life-cycle and possible ...

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.
