The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

The Creep-Damage Model of Salt Rock Based on Fractional Derivative

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
The use of salt rock for underground radioactive waste disposal facilities requires a comprehensive analysis of the creep-damage process in salt rock. A computer-controlled creep setup was employed to carry out a creep test of salt rock that lasted as ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Finite Element Creep Damage Analyses and Life Prediction of P91 Pipe Containing Local Wall Thinning Defect

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes, 2016
Creep continuum damage finite element (FE) analyses were performed for P91 steel pipe containing local wall thinning (LWT) defect subjected to monotonic internal pressure, monotonic bending moment and combined internal pressure and bending moment by ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Eurofer97 Creep-Fatigue assessment tool for ANSYS APDL and workbench

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2018
For the design of future fusion reactors the ferritic-martensitic steel Eurofer97 is the main candidate for in-vessel structural application to be able to withstand harsh environment like irradiation and cyclic loading under elevated temperatures.

Cyclic Creep Damage in Thin-Walled Structures [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Strain Analysis for Engineering Design, 2000
Thin-walled structural elements are often subjected to cyclic loadings. This paper presents a material model describing creep behaviour under high-cycle loading conditions (N ≥ 5 × 104-105). Assuming that the load can be split into two joint acting parts (a static and a superposed, rapidly varying small cyclic component), the asymptotic expansion of ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Creep failure characteristics and damage creep model of red layer soft rock based on Perzyna viscoplastic theory

open access: yesScientific Reports
Rock creep is essentially a process of damage accumulation. According to the damage evolution of rock under creep conditions, the TAW2000 triaxial test system is used to carry out triaxial creep test on red layer soft rock taken from Yibo Tunnel in ...
