Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Creep damage model for deep salt rock under temperature and stress coupling effect

open access: yesMeitan xuebao
As the demand on the construction salt rock storage increases in China, the shallow suitable deposits have been gradually exhausted, as such, the utilization shift from shallow to deep salt deposits is an inevitable trend.

The tertiary creep and necking of creep damaging solids

open access: yesActa Metallurgica, 1986
Abstract Tertiary creep and necking of bars composed of creep damaging material are investigated subject to the condition of constant applied load. The creep-damage constitutive model employed in the study is based on the concept of constrained cavity growth which characterizes the phenomenon of grain boundary cavitation in polycrystalline metals ...

NKCC1: A key regulator of glioblastoma progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioblastoma (GBM) progression is driven by disrupted chloride cotransporter homeostasis. NKCC1 is highly expressed in stem‐like, astrocytic, and progenitor cells, correlating with earlier recurrence, while overall survival remains unaffected. NKCC1 serves as a prognostic marker and potential therapeutic target, linking chloride transporter imbalance ...

Subsection amplification cyclic deterioration mechanism of creep damaged coal

open access: yesMeitan kexue jishu
Under the excavation effects of deep coal and rock, obvious creep damage is produced under the action of high stress for a long time and the sudden destabilization of the creep-damaged coal body induces rock burst disaster under the mining action in ...

Insights into a long life without cancer: The case of the bowhead whale

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Long‐lived, large‐bodied organisms have evolved powerful anticancer mechanisms that preserve cellular and tissue integrity across extended lifespans. A recent study by Firsanov et al. shows that greater genome stability is a key factor underlying the remarkable longevity and cancer resistance of one such species, the bowhead whale.

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Study of micro-mesoscopic creep damage on mudstone based on stress corrosion model

open access: yesAIP Advances
To study the creep minor damage evolution process and creep damage mechanism of mudstone, this paper establishes a numerical model of a two-media triple cementation particle flow procedure of mudstone, reproduces the tender damage destruction process of ...

Insight into the Creep Damage Evolution in Water-Immersed Coal Pillars: Experiment and Numerical Model Investigation

open access: yesEnergies
Coal mine underground reservoirs play a significant role in energy utilization while also contributing to energy security. Prolonged immersion in mine water reduces the long-term strength of coal, subsequently leading to continuous creep damage in coal ...
