Large Stress-Gradient Creep Tests and Model Establishment for Red Sandstone Treated at High Temperatures

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
Red sandstone samples treated at high temperatures feature complex creep properties. Uniaxial compression tests and the incremental creep tests at different stress gradients were conducted on 10 red sandstone samples of the same specifications divided ...

Experimental Study on Creep Characteristics of Unloaded Rock Masses for Excavation of Rock Slopes in Cold Areas

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Seasonal freeze–thaw environments are one of the key factors that aggravate the mechanical strength decay of excavated and unloaded rock masses on reservoir banks in cold areas.

Effect of secondary orientation on the creep strength of single crystal of a nickel-based superalloy

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2016
The effect of plastic anisotropy, which is caused by the arrangement of slip systems, on the creep strength of notched specimens of Ni-based superalloy single crystal, CMSX4, is described.

Influence of Moisture Content on Creep Mechanical Characteristic and Mic-Fracture Behavior of Water-Bearing Coal Specimen

open access: yesGeofluids, 2022
The most challenging aspect of constructing an underground reservoir is ensuring that the safety coal pillar has long-term stability. It is of great significance to study the creep mechanical behavior of coal pillars under water-rock interaction for the ...

Experimental investigation of influencing factors on the long-term strength of sliding zones of the Loess-Hipparion laterite landslide

open access: yesShuiwen dizhi gongcheng dizhi, 2022
The Hipparion laterite with strong creep characteristics and obvious strength attenuation after deformation is widely distributed in northwest China.

On cyclic yield strength in definition of limits for characterisation of fatigue and creep behaviour

open access: yesOpen Engineering, 2017
This study proposes cyclic yield strength as a potential characteristic of safe design for structures operating under fatigue and creep conditions.

Creep Characteristics of a Strongly Weathered Argillaceous Sandstone Sliding Zone and the Disaster Evolution Mechanism of the Huaipa Landslide, China

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
The creep characteristics of sliding zones strongly influence slope deformation and long-term stability, as well as the occurrence of landslide catastrophes.

Anisotropy in creep-aging behavior of Al–Li alloy under different stress levels: experimental and constitutive modeling

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2022
The anisotropy in creep aging behavior and microstructural evolution of AA2195-T34 A l–Li alloy plates under different stress levels at 180 °C were systematically investigated by constant-stress creep aging, mechanical property testing and microstructure

Competition of strength and stress disorder in creep rupture [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2012
Based on a fiber bundle model of subcritical fracture with localized load sharing, we show that the interplay of threshold disorder and the inhomogeneous stress field gives rise to a rich dynamics with intriguing aspects. In the model, fibers fail either due to immediate breaking or to a slow damage process.

Triaxial creep tests of glacitectonically disturbed stiff clay – structural, strength, and slope stability aspects

open access: yesOpen Geosciences, 2021
This study concerns the creep impact on strength parameters of the selected very cohesive soils (PI = 30–70%). The analysis refers to Neogene clays characterized by a complex structure, resulting directly from a complicated load history in the geological
