Failure criteria for C/SiC composites under plane stress state
The applicability and limitation of several quadratic strength theories were investigated with respect to 2D-C/SiC and 2.5D-C/SiC composites. A kind of damage-based failure criterion, referred to as D-criterion, is proposed for nonlinear ceramic ...

Effects of Scale-Free Disorder on the Anderson Metal-Insulator Transition
We investigate the three-dimensional Anderson model of localization via a modified transfer-matrix method in the presence of scale-free diagonal disorder characterized by a disorder correlation function $g(r)$ decaying asymptotically as $r^{-\alpha}$. We

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

Criteria for software modularization [PDF]
A central issue in programming practice involves determining the appropriate size and information content of a software module. This study attempted to determine the effectiveness of two widely used criteria for software modularization, strength and size,

14‐day casting‐induced immobilization reduced gastrocnemius muscle mass and increased non‐heme iron and ferritin heavy chain levels. Despite iron accumulation, transferrin receptor 1 and iron regulatory protein 2 were paradoxically upregulated. Lipid peroxidation was elevated without compensatory antioxidant responses.

Rock strength criterion considering the effect of hydrostatic stress on lode angle effect
Rock strength criterion is a basic subject in mining engineering and petroleum engineering. It has important guiding significances to the process of underground energy exploitation. Different rocks have different strength envelopes.

Strength behaviour of sandstone subjected to polyaxial state of stress
The paper presents an experimental investigation on the strength behaviour of natural rock subjected to polyaxial state of stress. The polyaxial tests were conducted on cubical specimens of sandstone obtained from the Shivpuri district in Madhya Pradesh ...

Comprehensive compressive-tensile strength criterion for intact rock
AbstractThis paper presents a strength criterion for intact rock, which can well describe triaxial test data under compressive or tensile stress state. The proposed criterion is defined in terms of three parameters. One parameter expresses the apparent unconfined compressive strength (AUCS), obtained from the Coulomb-Mohr criterion, as a regulated ...

Conductance fluctuations in diffusive rings: Berry phase effects and criteria for adiabaticity
We study Berry phase effects on conductance properties of diffusive mesoscopic conductors, which are caused by an electron spin moving through an orientationally inhomogeneous magnetic field. Extending previous work, we start with an exact, i.e.
