Quantum Criticality via Magnetic Branes
Holographic methods are used to investigate the low temperature limit, including quantum critical behavior, of strongly coupled 4-dimensional gauge theories in the presence of an external magnetic field, and finite charge density.

Analysis of Passive Charge Balancing for Safe Current-Mode Neural Stimulation [PDF]
Charge balancing has been often considered as one of the most critical requirement for neural stimulation circuits. Over the years several solutions have been proposed to precisely balance the charge transferred to the tissue during anodic and ...

Noether-Wald Charges in Critical Gravity
Indexación: Scopus. ; Critical Gravity theory is defined by a particular combination of quadratic couplings in the curvature added on top of 4D Einstein-Hilbert action with negative cosmological constant. As the Lagrangian is given by a Weyl-squared term, the asymptotic form of the curvature is not modified. The coupling of the W eyl 2 term is such the

The role of histone modifications in transcription regulation upon DNA damage
This review discusses the critical role of histone modifications in regulating gene expression during the DNA damage response (DDR). By modulating chromatin structure and recruiting repair factors, these post‐translational modifications fine‐tune transcriptional programmes to maintain genomic stability.

Charging effects and anomalous resistive features of superconducting boron doped diamond films
Anomalous resistive peaks below the superconducting transition temperature in heavily boron doped nanocrystalline diamond films could have potential application in switching devices, however it’s exact origin is still under study.

Multidrug transporters BpeB and BpeF from the Gram‐negative pathogen Burkholderia pseudomallei have a hydrophilic patch in their substrate‐binding pocket. Drug susceptibility tests and growth curve analyses using an Escherichia coli recombinant expression system revealed that the hydrophilic patches of BpeB and BpeF are involved in the substrate ...

Novel duality in disorder driven local quantum criticality
We find that competition between random Kondo and random magnetic correlations results in a quantum phase transition from a local Fermi liquid to a spin liquid.

Contribution of space charges to the polarization of ferroelectric superlattices and its effect on dielectric properties [PDF]
A theoretical model is developed for ferroelectric bilayers and multilayer heterostructures that employs a nonlinear Landau-Devonshire formalism coupled with a detailed analysis of the depolarizing fields arising from the polarization mismatch across ...

Critical Phenomena in Dynamical Scalarization of Charged Black Holes
We report a new black hole scalarization mechanism and disclose novel dynamical critical phenomena in the process of the nonlinear accretion of the scalar field into black holes. The accretion process can transform a seed black hole into a final scalarized or bald black hole, depending on the initial parameter of the scalar field $p$.
