Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

Scalable method for exploring phylogenetic placement uncertainty with custom visualizations using treeio and ggtree

open access: yesiMeta
In metabarcoding research, such as taxon identification, phylogenetic placement plays a critical role. However, many existing phylogenetic placement methods lack comprehensive features for downstream analysis and visualization.

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Data Visualization of Educational Research on Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills: A Bibliometric Analysis

open access: yes, 2022
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills (CTPS) are essential for learners in the 21st century. However, designing CTPS lessons and activities for teaching students involves different aspects of interdisciplinary research. To tackle this, researchers need to understand a holistic picture of CTPS research to identify trends, theories, and research ...

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Thinking through Visualizations: Critical Data Literacy Using Remittances

open access: yes, 2016
[Chapter excerpt] "We aim to situate and critically interrogate the increasingly privileged role of data within library and information literacy outreach on college and university campuses. Following a brief discussion of data in a college context, we provide a lesson plan that adapts critical information literacy and critical data librarianship to ...

Ways of Seeing Data: Toward a Critical Literacy for Data Visualizations as Research Objects and Research Devices

open access: yes, 2016
Gray, Bounegru, Milan and Ciuccarelli contribute towards a critical literacy for data visualizations as research objects and devices. The chapter argues for methodological reflexivity around the use of data visualizations in research as both instruments and objects of study.
