Numerical Analysis of Mechanism on Heat Transfer Deterioration of Hexamethyldisiloxane in a Vertical Upward Tube at Supercritical Pressures [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics
The working fluids at supercritical pressures will experience abnormal heat transfer compared with those in a sub-critical state. In particular, the heat transfer deterioration (HTD) can make the wall temperature increase sharply in the tube, posing a ...

Study on critical heat flux density at the quasi-stationary heating of superficially boiling binary mixtures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Research, 2015
The heat-flow rate and temperature of the heater are measured at various liquid subcooling boiling points. An experimental plant and the obtained results on the heat energy motion in the superficially boiling binary liquid mixtures are described.

Modeling and Numerical Investigation of Transient Two-Phase Flow with Liquid Phase Change in Porous Media

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2021
Two-phase flow with phase change in microstructure or nanostructure is an important issue in many fronts and critical applications nowadays, but with a lack of comprehensive understanding of the mechanism.

Instability Analysis of Supercritical CO2 during Transportation and Injection in Carbon Capture and Storage Systems

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
Captured CO2 is in a subcritical state, whereas CO2 deep underground is in a supercritical state because of the high geothermal heat and pressure. The properties of CO2 can change rapidly at the critical point and in the near-critical region during the ...

Numerical study on convective flow boiling of nanoliquid inside a pipe filling with aluminum metal foam by two-phase model

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2021
This study tries to employ the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) approach to investigate the influence of the simultaneous use of the metal foam (porous media) and the water-based nanofluid on the boiling flow regime. For this purpose, boiling flow heat

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Development of RP-3 Surrogate Fuels via Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm for Regenerative Cooling CFD with Supercritical Property Fidelity

open access: yesAerospace
Supercritical heat transfer in regenerative cooling channels is strongly influenced by thermophysical property variations near the pseudo-critical temperature, yet their direct implications for cooling performance have not been fully addressed.
