Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

The trans-critical process control of hydrogen based on a flow distribution method for enhancement of heat transfer

open access: yesPropulsion and Energy
The heat transfer performance of the thermal management system plays a crucial role in the hydrogen-powered aviation engine cycle. As an exceptional fuel, the thermophysical parameters of hydrogen change drastically with temperature in the trans-critical

Heat Sink Design for WBG Power Modules Based on Fourier Series and Evolutionary Multi-Objective Multi-Physics Optimization

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Power Electronics, 2021
Optimal heat dissipation in power modules can significantly increase their power density. Removing the generated heat is critical for capturing the benefits of advanced semiconductor materials and improving the reliability of the device operation.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Identification of a Shiga toxin A‐derived peptide internalized into Gb3 receptor‐bearing cells via interaction with the Shiga toxin B subunit

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The process of internalization of the Shiga toxin A subunit via formation of a complex with the Shiga toxin B subunit, which specifically binds to the Gb3 receptor. The peptide is designed to act as a carrier of drugs into cancer cells. Here, we explored the potential of peptides derived from the catalytic A subunit of Shiga toxin (STxA) to be drug ...

Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.

INTERCONNECTION BETWEEN EVAPORATION RATE AND CRITICAL DENSITY OF HEAT FLOW OF BOILING BINARY LIQUID MIXTURES

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Research, 2012
The experimental comparisons between the critical heat flux values under the unsaturated boiling of water-ethanol and water-isoamyl alcohol binary mixtures, and the external evaporation rates of the corresponding liquid weights are presented.

Characteristics of heat transfer under boiling refrigerant transition by pool boiling of immiscible mixtures (Effects of the height of more-volatile liquid layer)

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2019
Boiling heat transfer using immiscible liquid mixtures is an innovative cooling technique for high-heat-density electronic devices. Immiscible liquid mixtures which are composed of more-volatile liquid with higher density and less-volatile liquid with ...

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.
