Hot-compression response and deformation behaviours of Al-Zn-Mg-Cu-Y aluminium alloy

open access: yesMaterials Research Express
A homogeneous Al-Mg-Cu-Zn-Y aluminium alloy was analyzed via compression test to investigate commonly used aluminium’s hot-compression response and dynamic recrystallization (DRX) behaviour.

EGFP-FMRP Granules Are Proto-Granules That Can Be Shunted to Stress Granules During a Stress Response

open access: yes, 2010
Overexpressed EGFP-FMRP has been used as a substitute for endogenous fragile X mental retardation protein (FMRP) in protein-protein interaction studies, and in studies concerning the composition, the formation and the localization of neuronal granules ...

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

Experimental study on dynamic characteristics of saturated undisturbed expansive soil with different fissure orientations under cyclic loading

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao
The fissure orientation is one of the important factors contributing to the anisotropy of mechanical properties of expansive soil. To explore the influences of inclination angle of fissures on the dynamic properties of soil, using the undisturbed ...

The Impact of Job Stress on Smoking and Quitting: Evidence from the HRS [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper examines the impact of job-related stress on smoking behavior. We use data from the Health and Retirement Study to examine how high job stress affects the probability that smokers quit and the number of cigarettes smoked for current smokers ...

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Dynamic response analysis of semi-rigid asphalt pavement under combined low-temperature and heavy-load conditions

open access: yesScientific Reports
In cold regions, asphalt pavements undergo severe deterioration driven by the synergistic effects of thermal contraction and dynamic heavy loading, resulting in premature failures such as thermal cracking and rutting.

Revisiting the Brazilian disc test with split Hopkinson pressure bar by high-speed digital image correlation analysis

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering
The ISRM-suggested Brazilian disc (BD) test using split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) for dynamic rock tensile strength requires central crack initiation and stress equilibrium.

Dynamic Interplay Between Autophagy and Oxidative Stress in Stem Cells: Implications for Regenerative Medicine

open access: yes
The crosstalk between autophagy and oxidative stress is a cornerstone of stem cell biology. These processes are tightly interwoven, forming a regulatory network that impacts stem cell survival, self-renewal, and differentiation.
