Accumulated permanent strain and critical dynamic stress of frozen silty clay under cyclic loading

Cold Regions Science and Technology, 2018
Abstract A series of dynamic triaxial experiments have been conducted to study the dynamic properties of the frozen soil from the subgrade along the Qinghai-Tibet Railway. Under long term cyclic loading, the effects of initial stress state and stress level on cumulative permanent strain and critical dynamic stress were studied in the paper.

Using Combined Experiments and Analysis to Generate Dynamic Critical Stress Intensity Data

1988
In this paper the authors give a short description of a finite-element model of mixed-mode dynamic crack propagation. They then discuss the use of combined experiments and analysis procedures to generate critical stress-intensity data as a function of crack velocity.

Flow stress analysis for determining the critical condition of dynamic ferrite transformation in 6Ni–0.1C steel

Acta Materialia, 2013
Abstract In order to clarify the occurrence of dynamic ferrite transformation in a 6Ni–0.1C steel, the stress–strain behavior in uniaxial compression was analyzed for a wide range of temperatures and strain rates. Significant softening of flow stress for austenite was observed at lower temperatures at a constant strain rate, which seemed to ...

Critical Tension in a Liquid under Dynamic Conditions of Stressing

Nature, 1969
EXPERIMENTS have been described1–3 in which a pulse of compression is propagated upwards through a liquid column and then downwards as a pulse of tension after reflexion at the free surface of the liquid. Here we report that the maximum tension in the reflected pulse tends to an upper limiting value as the peak pressure amplitude in the incident pulse ...

Efficient identification of critical stresses in structures subject to dynamic loads

Computers & Structures, 1986
Optimum structural design problems generally employ constraints which are parametric in terms of space and time variables. A parametric constraint may be replaced by equivalent critical point constraints at its local minima for optimization applications. In complex structures, accurate identification of such critical points is computationally expensive

Study on the Dynamic Recrystallization Critical Stress of AZ91 Magnesium Alloy

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
The true stress-strain curves of AZ91 magnesium alloy as-homogenized were studied with compression tests on Gleeble 3500 thermal simulated test machine at 200°C—400°C and strain rate range of 10-3S-1 — 5S-1. Critical recrystallization behavior of AZ91 magnesium alloy was investigated by using strain hardening rate.

A combined dynamic-static finite element model for the calculation of dynamic stresses at critical locations

Computers & Structures, 1997
Summary: The paper addresses the validation of a dynamic-static finite element model for calculating stresses at critical locations of a structure to be used for fatigue life prediction. The method combines a dynamic finite element model of the global structure and a static finite element model of the critical part(s).

Critical Stresses in Spalling and Dynamic Rupture of Metals

Journal of Applied Mechanics and Technical Physics, 2005
Results of dynamic rupture tests of a series of metals obtained using a composite Hopkinson bar and shock-wave loading of plane specimens are described. It is shown that the actual rupture strength at a strain rate of 5 · 103 sec−1 is very close to the spall strength at higher strain rates. Results of testing the same metals using a composite Hopkinson

Experimental Study on Dynamic Elastic Modulus and Critical Dynamic Stress of Cinder-Improved Soil Subgrade

Journal of Highway and Transportation Research and Development (English Edition), 2018
The dynamic elasticity modulus and critical dynamic stress of improved soil under different confining pressures and frequencies are investigated by using GDS dynamic triaxial test system to examine the dynamic characteristics of cinder-improved soil as subgrade under medium and low confining pressure.
