Critical exponents from optimised renormalisation group flows [PDF]
Within the exact renormalisation group, the scaling solutions for O(N) symmetric scalar field theories are studied to leading order in the derivative expansion. The Gaussian fixed point is examined for d>2 dimensions and arbitrary infrared regularisation.

Refractory cardiogenic shock (CS) often requires veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) to sustain end-organ perfusion. Current animal models result in heterogenous cardiac injury and frequent episodes of refractory ventricular ...

Whilst the presence of 2 subphenotypes among the heterogenous Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) population is becoming clinically accepted, subphenotype-specific treatment efficacy has yet to be prospectively tested.

Despite decades of comprehensive research, Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) remains a disease with high mortality and morbidity worldwide. The discovery of inflammatory subphenotypes in human ARDS provides a new approach to study the disease ...

Introduction Shock-induced endotheliopathy (SHINE), defined as a profound sympathoadrenal hyperactivation in shock states leading to endothelial activation, glycocalyx damage, and eventual compromise of end-organ perfusion, was first described in 2017 ...

Making a positive difference: Criticality in groups
How critical are individual members perceived to be for their group's performance? In this paper, we show that judgments of criticality are intimately linked to considering responsibility. Prospective responsibility attributions in groups are relevant across many domains and situations, and have the potential to influence motivation, performance, and ...

Fate of the one-dimensional Ising quantum critical point coupled to a gapless boson [PDF]
The problem of a quantum Ising degree of freedom coupled to a gapless bosonic mode appears naturally in many one dimensional systems, yet surprisingly little is known how such a coupling affects the Ising quantum critical point.

The monodromy pairing and discrete logarithm on the Jacobian of finite graphs
Every graph has a canonical finite abelian group attached to it. This group has appeared in the literature under a variety of names including the sandpile group, critical group, Jacobian group, and Picard group.

Differential hypoxaemia (DH) is common in patients supported by femoral veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (V-A ECMO) and can cause cerebral hypoxaemia. To date, no models have studied the direct impact of flow on cerebral damage.

Critical Groups and Partitions of Finite Groups
We define a class of finite groups based on the properties of the closed twins of their power graphs and study the structure of those groups. As a byproduct, we obtain results about finite groups admitting a partition by cyclic subgroups.
