The Effect of Inclination Angle on Critical Heat Flux in a Locally Heated Liquid Film Moving Under the Action of Gas Flow in a Mini-Channel

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2016
Intensively evaporating liquid films moving under the action of the cocurrent gas flow in a microchannel are promising for the use in modern cooling systems of semiconductor devices with high local heat release.

SUPPRESSION of ELECTRON THERMAL CONDUCTION in the HIGH β INTRACLUSTER MEDIUM of GALAXY CLUSTERS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Understanding the thermodynamic state of the hot intracluster medium (ICM) in a galaxy cluster requires knowledge of the plasma transport processes, especially thermal conduction.

Peptide‐based ligand antagonists block a Vibrio cholerae adhesin

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The structure of a peptide‐binding domain of the Vibrio cholerae adhesin FrhA was solved by X‐ray crystallography, revealing how the inhibitory peptide AGYTD binds tightly at its Ca2+‐coordinated pocket. Structure‐guided design incorporating D‐amino acids enhanced binding affinity, providing a foundation for developing anti‐adhesion therapeutics ...

The momentum flux probability distribution function for ion-temperature-gradient turbulence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
There has been overwhelming evidence that coherent structures play a critical role in determining the overall transport in a variety of systems.

Real‐time assay of ribonucleotide reductase activity with a fluorescent RNA aptamer

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ribonucleotide reductases (RNR) synthesize DNA building blocks de novo, making them crucial in DNA replication and drug targeting. FLARE introduces the first single‐tube real‐time coupled RNR assay, which enables isothermal tracking of RNR activity at nanomolar enzyme levels and allows the reconstruction of allosteric regulatory patterns and rapid ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.
