Interaction of an Antituberculosis Drug with a Nanoscopic Macromolecular Assembly: Temperature-Dependent Förster Resonance Energy Transfer Studies on Rifampicin in an Anionic Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate Micelle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In this contribution, we report studies on the nature of binding of a potent antituberculosis drug, Rifampicin (RF) with a model drug delivery system, sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) micelle.

Cross-linking of micelles by gemini surfactants

open access: yes, 2000
We investigate the effects of gemini surfactants, telechelic chain and lipids on the nature of micelles formed by conventional single-tail surfactants in water by carrying out Monte Carlo simulations. In a mixture of gemini and single-tail surfactants in

3D Printing of Functional Mesoporous Silica Monoliths with Embedded Metal and MOF Components

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the development of silica nanocage‐based nano‐inks tailored for digital light processing 3D printing, enabling automated additive manufacturing of mesoporous monoliths. Novel strategies for incorporating metal sites and inducing in situ growth of metal‐organic frameworks are introduced.

Mechanisms of microbial photoinactivation by curcumin’s micellar delivery

open access: yesFrontiers in Food Science and Technology
Introduction: Microbial photoinactivation using UV light can be enhanced by the addition of food-grade photosensitizers (PSs), such as curcumin. Micellization of curcumin can improve its stability and antimicrobial activity.

Evaluation of a sulfanilic acid based surfactant in crude oil demulsification: an experimental study

open access: yesOil & Gas Science and Technology, 2018
In this study, 2-Amino-5-Dodecyl Benzene Sulfonic Acid (ADBSA) surfactant has been prepared and tested as crude oil emulsions demulsifier. Electrical conductivity method was used to obtain the critical micelle concentration of surfactant.

Pressure‐Induced Ultralow Critical Micelle Concentration of Surfactant for Encapsulating Dye

open access: goldAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ultralow critical micelle concentration (CMC) is successfully achieved by pressure. Compared to 917.2 ± 8.7 µm for cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide at 0.10 MPa, the ultralow CMC at 0.80 GPa is a ≈111‐fold reduction for 8.3 ± 0.1 µm. The detection of ultralow CMC under pressure is owed to the pressure‐induced fluorescence quenching of the coumarin 35 ...

Advancing Electrochemical Nitrate Reduction: Overcoming Rate‐Limiting Bottlenecks with Copper/Cobalt Catalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This paper synthesizes CuO@CuCo2O4 catalysts via an emulsion hydrothermal method. Among them, CuCuCo2O4 perfectly inherits the advantages of CuO and Co3O4 and successfully connects the reactions in series. During the electrolysis process, CuO is reduced to Cu.

Signature of elasticity in the Faraday instability

open access: yes, 2004
We investigate the onset of the Faraday instability in a vertically vibrated wormlike micelle solution. In this strongly viscoelastic fluid, the critical acceleration and wavenumber are shown to present oscillations as a function of driving frequency and

Voltammetric determination of the critical micellar concentration of surfactants by using a boron doped diamond anode [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The electrochemistry of three surfactants has been studied by voltammetry at boron doped diamond (BDD) electrode in sodium sulphate solutions. The electrochemical behaviour of these surfactants is characterized by an oxidation signal (peak or wave ...
