Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Rigidity-induced critical points

open access: yes
International audienceWhile classical theory of phase transitions deals with systems in which shape variation is energetically neutral, the account of rigidity can lead to the emergence of new thermodynamic features.

Critical-Points (Azeotropic Compositions) in Multicomponent Copolymerization

open access: yes, 1986
The necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of critical points ( azeotropic compositions) in multicomponent copolymerization are defined, and the preferred method for calculating critical points for a given set of reactivity ratios is ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Pairs of paths and critical points

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2001
Two sufficient conditions are presented, in terms of the values taken by a holomorphic function f(z) on a pair of smooth paths intersecting at a point z0 in its domain, implying that f′(z0)=0.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Infinitely many periodic solutions of nonlinear wave equations on $S^n$

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2009
The existence of time periodic solutions of nonlinear wave equations $$ u_{tt} - Delta_n u + ig(frac{n-1}{2}ig)^2u= g(u) - f(t, x) $$ on $n$-dimensional spheres is considered. The corresponding functional of the equation is studied by the convexity

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Solitary waves for the coupled nonlinear Klein-Gordon and Born-Infeld type equations

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2012
In this article we study the existence of solutions for a nonlinear Klein-Gordon-Maxwell equation coupled with a Born-Infeld equation.
