Reliable extraction of energy landscape properties from critical force distributions

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2020
The structural dynamics of a biopolymer is governed by a process of diffusion through its conformational energy landscape. In pulling experiments using optical tweezers, features of the energy landscape can be extracted from the probability distribution ...

Effect of critical thickness on structural and optical properties of InxGa1-xN/GaN multiple quantum wells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
InGaN/GaN multiquantum-well (MQW) structures grown by metalorganic chemical-vapor deposition on n-type GaN and capped by p-type GaN were investigated by cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy, double crystal x-ray diffraction, and temperature ...

α‐Synuclein aggregation landscape from phase separation to neurotoxic intermediates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Alpha‐synuclein aggregation in Parkinson's disease involves a complex landscape of transient intermediates, including oligomers, fibrils and liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS). A view is emerging in which LLPS maturation into solid‐like condensates may contribute to the formation of neurotoxic species.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Saturated properties prediction in critical region by a quartic equation of state

open access: yesBulletin of the Chemical Society of Ethiopia, 2011
A diverse substance library containing extensive PVT data for 77 pure components was used to critically evaluate the performance of a quartic equation of state and other four famous cubic equations of state in critical region.

FIRE DESIGN OF STEEL STRUCTURES

open access: yesInternational Journal for Computational Civil and Structural Engineering, 2019
This paper describes new software features for the fire design of steel structures. This analysis is performed according to Eurocode. An example is used to demonstrate the role of secondary effects and show that the estimation based on the critical ...
