Effects of Interactions on the Critical Temperature of a Trapped Bose Gas

open access: yes, 2011
We perform high-precision measurements of the condensation temperature of a harmonically-trapped atomic Bose gas with widely-tuneable interactions. For weak interactions we observe a negative shift of the critical temperature in excellent agreement with ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Critical Temperature and Frequency Characteristics of GPLs-Reinforced Composite Doubly Curved Panel

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
In this study, critical temperature and frequency characteristics of a doubly curved panel are reinforced by graphene nanoplatelets (GPLs) with the aid of a two-dimensional generalized differential quadrature method (2D-GDQM) are investigated.

High Temperature Mixed State $c-$Axis Dissipation in Low Carrier Density $Y_{0.54}Pr_{0.46}Ba_{2}Cu_{3}O_{7-\delta}$

open access: yes, 2006
The nature of the out-of-plane dissipation was investigated in underdoped $Y_{0.54}Pr_{0.46}Ba_{2}Cu_{3}O_{7-\delta}$ single crystals at temperatures close to the critical temperature.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Impact of Irradiation on the Crystallization and Electrical Properties of Bismuth-Based Superconductors at High Temperatures

open access: yesProceedings of the International Conference on Applied Innovations in IT
The superconducting compound Bi₂(x+y)AgₓCdᵧBa₂Ca₂Cu₃O₁₀+δ was studied using the solid-state reaction method at an annealing temperature of 850°C and under a pressure of 8 tons/cm² applied by a hydraulic press in the presence of sufficient oxygen.

Non-zero temperature transport near quantum critical points

open access: yes, 1997
We describe the nature of charge transport at non-zero temperatures ($T$) above the two-dimensional ($d$) superfluid-insulator quantum critical point. We argue that the transport is characterized by inelastic collisions among thermally excited carriers ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...
