Evaluation of small area crop estimation techniques using LANDSAT- and ground-derived data [PDF]

open access: yes
Studies completed in fiscal year 1981 in support of the clustering/classification and preprocessing activities of the Domestic Crops and Land Cover project. The theme throughout the study was the improvement of subanalysis district (usually county level)

Multiple scale analysis of genetic diversity in sorghum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Crop species are characterised by their intimate association with human populations, their history and their practices and needs. In long domesticated crops, migration can have expanded gradually within continents and jumped between continents, shaping ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

The roles of cell wall polysaccharides in response to waterlogging stress in Brassica napus L. root

open access: yesBMC Biology
Background Brassica napus L. (B. napus) is susceptible to waterlogging stress during different cultivation periods. Therefore, it is crucial to enhance the resistance to waterlogging stress to achieve a high and stable yield of B. napus.

Chromatin loops associated with active genes and heterochromatin shape rice genome architecture for transcriptional regulation

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Three-dimensional genome organization and its effect on transcription remain elusive in rice. Here, the authors map promoter–promoter interactions and heterochromatin interactions using ChIA-PET and reveal spatial correlation between the genetic ...

Combining antibody conjugates with cytotoxic and immune‐stimulating payloads maximizes anti‐cancer activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Methods to improve antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) treatment durability in cancer therapy are needed. We utilized ADCs and immune‐stimulating antibody conjugates (ISACs), which are made from two non‐competitive antibodies, to enhance the entry of toxic payloads into cancer cells and deliver immunostimulatory agents into immune cells.

THE CROWDING OUT EFFECTS OF THE 2002 FARM BILL ON HEDGING: EVIDENCE FROM PACIFIC NORTHWEST GRAIN FARMS [PDF]

open access: yes
The 2002 Food Security and Rural Investment (FSRI) Act introduced a price protection program called Counter Cyclical Payments (CCP) to major grain producers in the US. The CCP program is an addition to the Loan Deficiency Payment (LDP) and Direct Payment

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Reciprocal control of metabolic and chromatin regulators improves rice tolerance to heat

open access: yesNature Communications
Plant metabolic activities are regulated to adapt to the fluctuating environment for optimized growth, while interplay between metabolic and chromatin pathways plays an essential role in environmental adaptation.
