THE EFFECTS OF CROP LOAD ON ´SANGIOVESE´ GRAPEVINES

Acta Horticulturae, 2005
A study to evaluate the effects of crop load on the qualitative and quantitative fruit production as well as vegetative performance of grapevines was performed. The research was conducted from 2000 to 2002 on 12-year-old 'Sangiovese' grapevines grafted onto '420A'. The vines were spur pruned, the foliage was vertically trained and planted to a 3.0 by 1.

Variable-rate mechanical crop adjustment for crop load balance in ‘Concord’ vineyards

2018 IoT Vertical and Topical Summit on Agriculture - Tuscany (IOT Tuscany), 2018
The purpose of this research was to illustrate the use of sensor-derived spatial data in generating management classifications and applying variable-rate vineyard mechanization to improve vine balance and fruit quality. In a commercial ‘Concord’ vineyard in Westfield, New York, data from proximal sensors were used to generate spatial maps of soil ...

Potential Nitrogen Load from Crop-Livestock Systems

International Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Information Systems, 2016
The EU “Water” Directive establishes a common European framework for the environmental protection of inland, coastal and marine waters. One of the major environmental concerns about water quality is certainly the N loads from agro-livestock systems. In this study, carried out in Umbria region, Italy, a novel spatial database for a multi-scale and multi-

Crop load management.

2008
Abstract This chapter covers peach tree physiology and the physiological importance of fruit thinning. Various methods that have been developed to thin peach trees and some of the factors affecting the efficacy of these practices are discussed. Specific topics covered are: fruit growth and development; quantification of crop load; modification ...

Young apple tree responses to crop load

Acta Horticulturae, 2018
Biennial bearing is a common and important issue facing apple growers that can result in losses in production of up to 30%, depending on cultivar. To study this issue, a collaborative project focusing on molecular, biochemical and whole tree physiological responses to variable crop loads was established between German research institutions and ...
