Characterizing Crop-Waste Loads for Solid-Waste Processing

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2007
<div class="htmlview paragraph">In long-duration, closed human habitats in space that include crop growth, one challenge that is faced while designing a candidate waste processor is the composition of solid-waste loads, which include human waste, packaging and food-processing materials, crop spoilage, and plant residues.

Precision Cropping Under Axial Load for Shaped Workpieces

1984
In this paper, the authors present a new technique for producing precision shaped workpieces. By using the theory of cropping under axial load, prefiles with various sections can be directly cropped into precision workpieces, including sheet-shaped ones, which in the past have usually been made from sheets by the precision blanking method.

EFFECT OF FRUIT CROP LOAD ON PEACH ROOT GROWTH

Acta Horticulturae, 2006
Field experiments were conducted on mature, late-maturing peach trees (‘O' Henry’) to study the influence of assimilate availability on root growth. Crop load was used to vary assimilate availability by imposing three different fruit thinning treatments: thinned to commercial fruit loads, unthinned and completely defruited.

Crop load and harvest maturity effects on consumer preferences for apricots

Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 2014
AbstractBACKGROUNDImproving apricot fruit quality delivered to consumers is key to ensuring a successful apricot industry. Previous studies have focused on effects of either soluble solids content (SSC) or fruit firmness on consumer preferences, and results have been equivocal. This study evaluated the effects of crop load and harvest maturity how they

Nutrient loads to surface water from row crop production

The International Journal of Life Cycle Assessment, 2007
Goals, Scope and Background Eutrophication and hypoxia, which are already serious environmental issues in the Midwestern region of the United States and the Gulf of Mexico, could worsen with an increase emphasis on the use of corn and soybeans for biofuels.

The Study of Precision Bar Cropping Under Axial Load

1982
Based on the experimental results, this paper analyses mainly the mechanisms of the precision bar cropping under axial load and presents new deformation models. The models are able to explain in a better way a number of phenomena occurring during cropping under axial load and the mechanism of various technological factors affecting on cropping ...
