MT-CYP-Net: Multi-task network for pixel-level crop yield prediction under very few samples

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Earth Observations and Geoinformation
Accurate and fine-grained crop yield prediction plays a crucial role in advancing global agriculture. However, the accuracy of pixel-level yield estimation based on satellite remote sensing data has been constrained by the scarcity of ground truth data ...

Spatial Patterns of Crop Yields in Latin America and the Caribbean [PDF]

open access: yes
Because of the apparent slowdown in the growth of crop yield potential, the increasing share of farmers already using modern crop varieties, and the accelerating flow of knowledge on agricultural technology, one would expect to find gradual convergence ...

No perfect storm for crop yield failure in Germany

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters, 2020
Large-scale crop yield failures are increasingly associated with food price spikes and food insecurity and are a large source of income risk for farmers.

Emerging role of ARHGAP29 in melanoma cell phenotype switching

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study gives first insights into the role of ARHGAP29 in malignant melanoma. ARHGAP29 was revealed to be connected to tumor cell plasticity, promoting a mesenchymal‐like, invasive phenotype and driving tumor progression. Further, it modulates cell spreading by influencing RhoA/ROCK signaling and affects SMAD2 activity. Rho GTPase‐activating protein

Reducing weed infestation in winter wheat by sowing technique [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Hoeing can improve weed control in cereals but this requires wider row spacing of the crop. A spe-cific band row design may also ensure high crop yield and quality, especially at the conditions of organic farming.

Effect of Different Rates of Nitrogen Fertilization on Crop Yield, Soil Properties and Leaf Physiological Attributes in Banana Under Subtropical Regions of China

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2020
Excessive nitrogen (N) application is widespread in Southern China. The effects of N fertilization on soil properties and crop physiology are poorly understood in tropical red loam soil.

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells enhances bortezomib sensitivity in multiple myeloma cells by altering their metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

Optimising Broadacre Crop Rotations using Dynamic Programming [PDF]

open access: yes
A Dynamic programming Model is used to select the most profitable crop rotation from seven crop alternatives including pasture. Crop yields within a rotation are estimated by specifying growing season rainfall, water use efficiency and weed and disease ...
