Versatile crop yield estimator

open access: yesAgronomy for Sustainable Development
AbstractAccurate production estimates, months before the harvest, are crucial for all parts of the food supply chain, from farmers to governments. While methods have been developed to use satellite data to monitor crop development and production, they typically rely on official crop statistics or ground-based data, limiting their application to the ...

Adaptor protein CIN85 potentiates the motility of osteosarcoma cells via the Akt/mTOR and MMP2‐COL3A1 axis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CIN85 is highly expressed in osteosarcoma, particularly in metastatic lesions. Its overexpression increases cell migration and Matrigel invasion, while silencing CIN85 suppresses these behaviors. Transcriptome analysis shows that CIN85 regulates MMP2, COL3A1, and Akt/mTOR signaling. Targeting these pathways reverses CIN85‐induced motility, highlighting

Effects of the second crop on maize yield and yield components in organic agriculture [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The second crop use in organic agriculture is a known method of maintaining the soil tilth, soil protection against environmental deterioration, soil nutrients conservation and even the weed control.

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Soybean crops with short duration are prone to nitrogen limitation in high-yielding subtropical environments

open access: yesCrop and Environment
The asynchrony between soil nitrogen (N) and biological N2 fixation results in N limitation in soybean crops. The crop duration can potentially alter the asynchrony and N limitation. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of soybean crop

Crop model and its application in para rubber [PDF]

open access: yesSongklanakarin Journal of Science and Technology (SJST), 2007
Crop models are derived from quantitative models that comprise empirical models and mechanistic models. Four situations of crop production were used in crop modeling. 1) potential crop production, 2)water-limited crop production, 3) nitrogen-limited crop

Insights into a long life without cancer: The case of the bowhead whale

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Long‐lived, large‐bodied organisms have evolved powerful anticancer mechanisms that preserve cellular and tissue integrity across extended lifespans. A recent study by Firsanov et al. shows that greater genome stability is a key factor underlying the remarkable longevity and cancer resistance of one such species, the bowhead whale.

Modeling Stochastic Crop Yield Expectations with a Limiting Beta Distribution [PDF]

open access: yes
The use of plausible stochastic price processes in price risk analysis has allowed advances not seen in crop yield risk analysis. This study develops a stochastic process for yield modeling and risk management.
