Complex free energy landscapes in biaxial nematics and role of repulsive interactions : A Wang - Landau study [PDF]
General quadratic Hamiltonian models, describing interaction between crystal molecules (typically with $D_{2h}$ symmetry) take into account couplings between their uniaxial and biaxial tensors. While the attractive contributions arising from interactions

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Efficient Solar Cells Based on a Polymer Donor with β-Branching in Trialkylsilyl Side Chains
Side-chain engineering is an important strategy in designing novel polymer semiconductor materials for high-efficient organic solar cells. The use of trialkylsilyl side chains can improve the photovoltaic efficiency by decreasing the energy of the HOMO ...

Low-Temperature Glassy Response of Ultrathin Manganite Films to Electric and Magnetic Fields [PDF]
The glassy response of thin films of La0.8Ca0.2MnO3 to external magnetic and gated electrostatic fields in a field-effect geometry has been studied at low temperatures. A hierarchical response with irreversible memory effects, non-ergodic time evolution,

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Onsager's Cross Coupling Effects in Gas Flows Confined to Micro-channels
In rarefied gases, mass and heat transport processes interfere with each other, leading to the mechano-caloric effect and thermo-osmotic effect, which are of interest to both theoretical study and practical applications. We employ the unified gas-kinetic
