3-D cross-gradient joint inversion of seismic refraction and DC resistivity data [PDF]
Abstract We present a 3-D cross-gradient joint inversion algorithm for seismic refraction and DC resistivity data. The structural similarity between seismic slowness and resistivity models is enforced by a cross-gradient term in the objective function that also includes misfit and regularization terms.

High order resolution of the Maxwell-Fokker-Planck-Landau model intended for ICF applications [PDF]
A high order, deterministic direct numerical method is proposed for the nonrelativistic $2D_{\bf x} \times 3D_{\bf v}$ Vlasov-Maxwell system, coupled with Fokker-Planck-Landau type operators.

Gravity and magnetic fast inversion method with cross-gradient based on function fitting
SUMMARY The underground density and magnetic susceptibility structure obtained by cross-gradient inversion of gravity and magnetic data can provide an important basis for the evaluation of mineral resource potential. The inversion is realized by discretizing the subsurface into a series of cells and calculating the physical properties of

Application of a new Structural Joint Inversion Approach to Teleseismic and Gravity Data from Mt.Vesuvius, Italy [PDF]
A 3-D joint inversion of seismic and gravimetric data is performed to re-investigate the subsurface structure of Mt. Vesuvius (Italy) utilizing an improved joint inversion method. The aim is to derive models of the 3D distribution of velocity and density

Dimer with gain and loss: Integrability and $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetry restoration
A $\mathcal{PT}$-symmetric nonlinear Schr\"odinger dimer is a two-site discrete nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation with one site losing and the other one gaining energy at the same rate.

Optimal orientation estimators for detection of cylindrical objects [PDF]
International audienceThis paper introduces low level operators in the context of detecting cylindrical axis in 3 D images. Knowing the axis of a cylinder is particularly useful since cylinder location, length and curvature derive from this knowledge ...
