Plant viruses and new perspectives in cross-protection☆
Biochimie, 1988Cross-protection in plants is the phenomenon whereby a plant preinoculated with a mild virus strain becomes resistant to subsequent inoculation by a related severe strain. It has been used on a large scale in cases where no resistant plants are available. Although several hypotheses have been proposed to explain the molecular mechanism underlying cross-

Cross-Protection in Animals Infected with Group A Arboviruses
The Journal of Immunology, 1963Summary Experiments were carried out to investigate the phenomenon of cross-protection among Venezuelan equine encephalomyelitis (VEE), eastern equine encephalomyelitis (EEE) and Semliki Forest (SF) viruses in a variety of laboratory animals after immunization by the intraperitoneal, subcutaneous or respiratory routes; the last was ...

Implementation of Cross-Protect Router
2015The first implementation of the cross-protect router is described in this chapter. Moreover, the results of tests of an XP router prototype conducted in a laboratory are presented. These results show the advantages of the XP router over the IP router.

Cross protection studies with Eimeria maxima strains
Parasitology Research, 2005The purpose of this study was to determine whether differences in fecundity of Eimeria maxima isolates were related to their abilities to elicit cross-protective immunity. Immunizations were initiated by low-dose gavages of sporulated oocysts to day-old broiler chicks under conditions that allowed parasite recycling, and chickens were challenged with ...

T-Cell-Mediated Cross-Protective Immunity
2017Human invasive fungal infections are caused by different mold and yeast species. Hence, cross-reactive T cells that recognize conserved epitopes of various fungal pathogens are of special interest for vaccination protocols or adoptive T cell transfer.

The cross-protect router: implementation tests and opportunities
IEEE Communications Magazine, 2014The concept of flow-aware networking (FAN) has been introduced, discussed, and analyzed only with the use of mathematical models or computer simulations. This article presents the results of FAN's first practical implementation. For the environment, the Click Modular Router was chosen.

Cross-Protection among Serotypes of Group A Streptococci
Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1972Cross-protection between two serotypes of Group A streptococci was demonstrated. Type 55 strain 2004 and type 60 strain 365 shared a cross-protective relationship in one direction: type 55 antiserum possessed opsonophagocytic activity against type 60, but type 60 antiserum was inactive against type 55.

Cross-protection: a century of mystery.
Advances in virus research, 2010Cross-protection is a phenomenon in which infection of a plant with a mild virus or viroid strain protects it from disease resulting from a subsequent encounter with a severe strain of the same virus or viroid. In this chapter, we review the history of cross-protection with regard to the development of ideas concerning its likely mechanisms, including ...

‘Cross-Protection’ Method as a Means of Differentiating Receptors
Nature, 1962IN 1954 Furchgott1 described a method for determining whether two drugs act on a common receptor. One of his experiments may be used to illustrate this. A spiral strip of rabbit aorta was exposed to 3 × 10−6 dibenamine for 20 min either with no other drug in the bath or with 10−4 adrenaline present.
