Additive genetic, non-additive genetic and permanent environmental effects for female reproductive performance in seasonal calving dairy females [PDF]
peer-reviewedFunding from the research Stimulus Fund, GENCOST, is gratefully acknowledged.Excellent reproductive performance (i.e. 365-day calving interval) is paramount to herd profit in seasonal-calving dairy systems. Reproductive targets are currently

Abstract BACKGROUND Bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is a major global food crop, and understanding its maternal lineage and genetic diversity is essential for breeding, authentication, and evolutionary studies. Chloroplast genomes provide valuable markers for phylogenetic inference and cultivar discrimination; however, conventional plant DNA ...

ABSTRACT Canine hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) requires further molecular characterization to identify diagnostic and therapeutic targets, and to establish whether dogs with this condition can model the human disease. Accordingly, we aimed to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in canine HCC and evaluate cross‐species transcriptomic ...

Connexin 26 Functions as a Direct Transcriptional Regulator During the Cochlea Development
Connexin26 can not only form intercellular channels that mediate rapid communication on the cell membrane, but also enter the nucleus as a transcription factor to directly regulate the transcription of nuclear genes. In the developing cochlea, Cx26 can control the maturation of the molecular scissor ADAM10 by regulating the transcription of TspanC8 ...

A Dominant Founder Lineage Has Possible Fitness Costs for the Endangered Mexican Grey Wolf
ABSTRACT The Mexican grey wolf (Canis lupus baileyi) is an endangered and genetically distinct subspecies of grey wolf adapted to the warm climates of the southwestern United States and Mexico. Following centuries of eradication efforts, Mexican grey wolves were protected under the Endangered Species Act in 1976, prompting an international ex situ ...
