The clinical spectrum of SMA‐PME and in vitro normalization of its cellular ceramide profile
Abstract Objective The objectives of this study were to define the clinical and biochemical spectrum of spinal muscular atrophy with progressive myoclonic epilepsy (SMA‐PME) and to determine if aberrant cellular ceramide accumulation could be normalized by enzyme replacement.

Currency exchange prediction using machine learning, genetic algorithms and technical analysis [PDF]
Technical analysis is used to discover investment opportunities. To test this hypothesis we propose an hybrid system using machine learning techniques together with genetic algorithms. Using technical analysis there are more ways to represent a currency exchange time series than the ones it is possible to test computationally, i.e., it is unfeasible to

TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.

COVID‐19 and the risk of Alzheimer's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and multiple sclerosis
Abstract Background The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) pandemic has had an unprecedented impact on the healthcare system, economy, and society. Studies have reported that COVID‐19 may cause various neurologic symptoms, including cognitive impairment.

Genetic Susceptibility of Cultured Shrimp (\u3ci\u3ePenaeus vannamei\u3c/i\u3e) to Infectious Hypodermal and Hematopoietic Necrosis Virus and \u3ci\u3eBaculovirus penaei\u3c/i\u3e: Possible Relationship with Growth Status and Metabolic Gene Expression [PDF]
Offspring of four crosses (I, II, III, and IV) of Penaeus vannamei from known high- and low-growth families were challenged with infectious hypodermal and hematopoietic necrosis virus (IHHNV) and Baculovirus penaei (BP) to compare their susceptibility to

Transcriptome‐wide analysis of circRNA and RBP profiles and their molecular relevance for GBM
CircRNAs are differentially expressed in glioblastoma primary tumors and might serve as therapeutic targets and diagnostic markers. The investigation of circRNA and RNA‐binding proteins (RBPs) interactions shows that distinct RBPs play a role in circRNA biogenesis and function.

Abstract Objectives Early‐ and late‐onset Alzheimer's disease (EOAD and LOAD) share the same neuropathological traits but show distinct cognitive features. We aimed to explore baseline and longitudinal outcomes of global and domain‐specific cognitive function in a well characterized cohort of patients with a biomarker‐based diagnosis.

Genetic Complexity in a Drosophila Model of Diabetes-Associated Misfolded Human Proinsulin [PDF]
Here we use Drosophila melanogaster to create a genetic model of human permanent neonatal diabetes mellitus and present experimental results describing dimensions of this complexity. The approach involves the transgenic expression of a misfolded mutant of human preproinsulin, hINSC96Y, which is a cause of the disease.

Allozyme-based genetic variation in crossbreds produced from three Thai Macrobrachium rosenbergii stocks [PDF]
Molecular technology at enzyme/protein level known as “allozyme marker” is a widely accepted powerful technique to study genetic variation (Ward and Grewe, 1995) as well as intraspecific population studies (Sodsuk, 1996; Sodsuk and Sodsuk, 1998a & 1998b;

This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.
