Recurrence Quantification Analysis of Crowd Sound Dynamics

open access: yesCognitive Science, 2023
AbstractWhen multiple individuals interact in a conversation or as part of a large crowd, emergent structures and dynamics arise that are behavioral properties of the interacting group rather than of any individual member of that group. Recent work using traditional signal processing techniques and machine learning has demonstrated that global acoustic

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Crowd counting using a self‐attention multi‐scale cascaded network

open access: yesIET Computer Vision, 2019
Recent developments of crowd analysis and behaviour prediction have attracted much attention. Crowd counting, as the essential and challenging task in crowd analysis, is riddled with many issues, such as large scale variations, serious occlusion, and so ...

Analysis of Crowd Congestion Degree in Narrow Space Based on Attention Mechanism [PDF]

open access: yesJisuanji gongcheng, 2020
The analysis of crowd congestion degree is very important to maintain public safety.Generally,in a narrow space the perspective is limited, and the human-human occlusion and human-item occlusion are serious. In addition, because of the different scales of ...

T-Crowd: Effective Crowdsourcing for Tabular Data

open access: yes, 2017
Crowdsourcing employs human workers to solve computer-hard problems, such as data cleaning, entity resolution, and sentiment analysis. When crowdsourcing tabular data, e.g., the attribute values of an entity set, a worker's answers on the different ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Automatic age estimation from facial profile view

open access: yesIET Computer Vision, 2017
In recent years, automatic facial age estimation has gained popularity due to its numerous applications. Much work has been done on frontal images and lately, minimal estimation errors have been achieved on most of the benchmark databases.
