On the Lightweight Potential of Laser Additive Manufactured NiTi Triply Periodic Minimal Sheet Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the lightweight potential of laser additive‐manufactured NiTi triply periodic minimal surface sheet lattices. It systematically investigates the effects of relative density and unit cell size on surface quality, deformation recovery, compression behavior, and energy absorption.

Crowd counting using a self‐attention multi‐scale cascaded network

open access: yesIET Computer Vision, 2019
Recent developments of crowd analysis and behaviour prediction have attracted much attention. Crowd counting, as the essential and challenging task in crowd analysis, is riddled with many issues, such as large scale variations, serious occlusion, and so ...

Learn from Object Counting: Crowd Counting with Meta‐learning

open access: yesIET Image Processing, 2021
The objective of crowd counting is to learn a counter that can estimate the number of people in a single image. So far, most of the proposed work evaluates the crowd density by fitting the constructed density map corresponding to the sample.

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Smart Camera Aware Crowd Counting via Multiple Task Fractional Stride Deep Learning

open access: yesSensors, 2019
Estimating the number of people in highly clustered crowd scenes is an extremely challenging task on account of serious occlusion and non-uniformity distribution in one crowd image. Traditional works on crowd counting take advantage of different CNN like

Stretching the Printability Metric in Direct‐Ink Writing with Highly Extensible Yield‐Stress Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces “drawability” as a new metric for assessing printability in direct‐ink writing, focusing on gap‐spanning performance and speed robustness. By designing yield‐stress fluids with high extensibility, we demonstrate that extensional strain‐to‐break significantly enhances printability.

The walking behaviour of pedestrian social groups and its impact on crowd dynamics. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2010
Human crowd motion is mainly driven by self-organized processes based on local interactions among pedestrians. While most studies of crowd behaviour consider only interactions among isolated individuals, it turns out that up to 70% of people in a crowd ...

Obstruction enhances the diffusivity of self-propelled rod-like particles

open access: yes, 2015
Diffusion of self-propelled particles in the presence of randomly distributed obstacles in three dimensions is studied using molecular dynamics simulations. It is found that depending on the magnitude of the propelling force and the particle aspect ratio,
