Effect of Propolis supplementation on C-reactive protein levels and other inflammatory factors:A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Propolis is a resin-like substance collected by honeybees from certain plants that have been shown to positive effect on inflammatory factors. Therefore, the aim of this study was to systematically review and meta-analyse the effects of Propolis ...

CRP after 2004 [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular Immunology, 2005
C-reactive protein (CRP) that has been conserved throughout evolution is a host-defense molecule. Its attraction towards phosphocholine-ligands, such as modified low-density lipoprotein, and apoptotic cells leads to the "masking" of these substances that have the capabilities to otherwise engage in deleterious activities.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Hard-hearted CRP [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Investigation, 2004
The data will be what the data will be — regardless of a community’s fondest wishes. And the latest data from the most comprehensive epidemiological study carried out so far on C-reactive protein (CRP) and its predictive value for coronary heart disease (CHD) in the general population indicate that CRP is not as strong a predictor of heart disease ...

Sarilumab in Polyarticular‐Course Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis: Dose‐Finding and 1‐Year Analysis of a Phase 2b, Open‐Label, Multicenter Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This study assessed sarilumab in treating patients with polyarticular‐course juvenile idiopathic arthritis (pcJIA). Methods This phase 2b, open‐label study (NCT02776735) consisted of three sequential parts (each with a core‐treatment and extension phase).

Validation of a Genetic Risk Score Combined With Clinical Variables for Predicting Pulmonary Fibrosis in Early Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) is a severe extra‐articular manifestation of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This study aimed to externally validate a genetic risk score (GRS) and a combined risk score (CRS) for predicting the risk of RA‐associated PF in an independent cohort of patients with early RA.

Serum C-reactive protein concentrations in dogs with idiopathic epilepsy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Inflammatory reactions in dogs are associated with systemic changes in serum, called the acute phase response; changes in the concentration of acute phase proteins in the serum take place. C-reactive protein (CRP) is a positive acute phase protein, which
