On-site mortality in crush syndrome remains high due to lack of effective drugs based on definite diagnosis. Anisodamine is widely used in China for treatment of shock, and activation of α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (α7nAChR) mediates such ...

Management of Crush Injuries and Crush Syndrome
Crush injury – Occurs as a result of pressure applied to any part of the body, usually extremities, for a prolonged period of time. It may be associated or not with limb fractures.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Crush injuries and crush syndrome -a review. Part 2: the local injury [PDF]
Crush injuries can occur in considerable numbers following natural disasters or acts of war and terrorism. They can also occur sporadically after industrial accidents or following periods of unconsciousness from drug intoxication, anaesthesia, trauma or ...

The importance of the biochemical markers in rapid diagnosis and treatment of crushing syndrome [PDF]
Crushing represents the mechanism by which a group of skeletal muscles is caught by a high-energy traumatic agent over a wide area. The traumatic agent acts straight on the human body, causing serious injury, with potentially irreversible results. In the

This review focuses on the role of autophagy and mitophagy in maintaining pancreatic β‐cell function and homeostasis. We discuss how genetic defects affecting these pathways contribute to the development of type 1, type 2, monogenic, and gestational diabetes. We further explore their potential as therapeutic targets. Created in BioRender.

The reno-protective effects of atorvastatin in crush syndrome and rhabdomyolysis:is there a dilemma? [PDF]
Background/aim: We aim to determine the effects of low-dose atorvastatin treatment together with crush fluid resuscitation on renal functions and muscle enzyme levels in a rat model of crush syndrome.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Compartment and Crush Syndromes After Sleep Deprivation and a Therapeutic Dose of Zolpidem
Despite extensive review in the literature, compartment syndrome and crush syndrome remain difficult to diagnose. Trauma, toxins and reperfusion have been associated with these syndromes.
