Regulating the Conversion Efficiency and Kinetics of Halogen‐Based Reactions for High‐Performance Aqueous Zn Batteries

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
Herein, we focus on the recent progress, energy storage mechanisms, and design strategies for aqueous zinc‐halogen batteries (AZHBs). Specifically, we explored the understanding of thermodynamics and kinetics challenges of Zn‐I2, Zn‐Br2, and Zn‐Cl2 batteries in depth.

Environmental and local habitat variables as predictors of trophic interactions in subtidal rocky reefs along the SE Pacific coast

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Temperature generally drives latitudinal patterns in the strength of trophic interactions, including consumption rates. However, local community and other environmental conditions might also affect consumption, disrupting latitudinal gradients, which results in complex large‐scale patterns.

Lowering d‐Band Center of Interfacial Protective Layers Optimized Reversible Zn Electrochemistry

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This study investigates the d‐band center modulation of zinc‐based transition bimetallic oxides and its role in suppressing hydrogen evolution reactions (HER). The ZnTi3O7 (ZTO) protective layer with a lower d‐band energy level demonstrates enhanced HER inhibition, uniform zinc flux distribution, and stable Zn deposition.

Unlocking the Electrochemical Activation of Diatomaceous Earth SiO2 Anodes for Next‐Generation Li‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of SiO2 anode activation through potentiostatic holding steps. Silica (SiO2) anodes are promising candidates for enhancing the energy density of next‐generation Li‐ion batteries, offering a compelling combination of high storage capacity, stable cycling performance, low cost, and sustainability.
