Q-band EPR cryoprobe

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance, 2023
Following the success of cryogenic EPR signal preamplification at X-band, we present a Q-band EPR cryoprobe compatible with a standard EPR resonator. The probehead is equipped with a cryogenic ultra low-noise microwave amplifier and its protection circuit that are placed close to the sample in the same cryostat.

Short communication: ultrasound-guided percutaneous cryoanalgesia of intercostal nerves for uniportal video-assisted thoracic surgery

open access: yesThe Ultrasound Journal, 2022
Background Pain after thoracic surgery impairs lung function and increases the rate of postoperative pulmonary complications. Ultrasound-guided percutaneous cryoanalgesia of intercostal nerves constitutes a valid option for adequate postoperative ...

Multiple cryoprobe placement strategy for a single freeze cryosurgery planning

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2022
The present work is concerned with the development of a numerical methodology for the placement of cryoprobes inside three-dimensional irregular-shaped tumors. A set of discrete regions enclosed by lethal temperature are superposed using the algorithm to

Mediastinal “deep freeze”—transcarinal lymph node cryobiopsy

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, 2022
Background The diagnostic yield of endobronchial ultrasound‐transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS‐TBNA) from mediastinal lymph nodes ranges from 66%–89%. However, in many cases cytologic material is not sufficient for full molecular evaluation.

Combination of 1.1 mm flexible cryoprobe with conventional guide sheath and therapeutic bronchoscope in biopsy of apical upper lobe solitary pulmonary nodule

open access: yesBMC Pulmonary Medicine, 2020
Background Lung cancer is frequently situated peripherally in the upper lobes of the lung. Acquiring adequate tissue from this difficult-to-reach area remains a challenge.

Thoracoscopic pleural cryobiopsy versus conventional forceps biopsy in diagnosis of exudative pleural effusion of unknown etiology

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Bronchology, 2019
Background Rigid forceps is commonly used for pleural biopsies during medical thoracoscopy in undiagnosed pleural effusion, and recently, the use of cryoprobe for pleural biopsies was encouraged, as the procedure is effective and safe.
