Acquired cell-mediated protection in rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss , against the haemoflagellate, Cryptobia salmositica

Parasitology Research, 2002
Disease-free rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss (Walbaum),were inoculated with either the pathogenic Cryptobia salmositica Katz, 1951 or with the attenuated vaccine strain of the parasite. A number of vaccinated fish were then challenged at 6 weeks post-vaccination with pathogenic C. salmositica.

Characterization of purified metallo- and cysteine proteases from the pathogenic haemoflagellate Cryptobia salmositica Katz 1951

Parasitology Research, 1998
The purified metalloprotease and the partially purified cysteine protease from pathogenic Cryptobia salmositica were characterized. Using haemoglobin gel electrophoresis, we detected five enzymatic bands in crude parasite lysate; one protease (200 kDa) yielded a metalloprotease band and other four, cysteine protease bands (97, 70, 66 and 49 kDa).

Hematological changes in Cryptobia-infected rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri)

Canadian Journal of Zoology, 1986
Rainbow trout, Salmo gairdneri, were experimentally infected with Cryptobia salmositica and total and differential erythrocyte and leucocyte abundances were examined. Total erythrocyte counts were profoundly reduced and were lowest at 4 weeks postinoculation during the peak of infection.

The Flagellate Cryptobia in Two Species of Deepsea Fishes from the Eastern Pacific

The Journal of Parasitology, 1968
Since 1888, eight species of Cryptobia (= Trypanoplasma) have been described or mentioned from marine fishes. The present paper describes two new species: C. stilbia, from the stomach of Bathylagus stilbius, a mesopelagic fish from the coast of California, and C.
