Characterization of Cryptocaryon irritans, a parasite isolated from marine fishes in Taiwan [PDF]

open access: yesDiseases of Aquatic Organisms, 2003
The ciliated protozoan parasite Cryptocaryon irritans infecting marine fishes in Taiwan is described. Developmental characteristics and sequences of the ribosomal DNA regions such as part of 18 S, the entire first internal transcribed spacer, and part of 5.8 S of various Taiwan isolates of C. irritans were investigated.

Description of Goussia kuehae n. sp. (Apicomplexa: Eimeriidae) infecting the Asian seabass, Lates calcarifer (Bloch)(Perciformes: Latidae), cultured in Malaysian fish farms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Culturing fishes in marine cages is a rapidly developing area of marine aquaculture. The Asian seabass Lates calcarifer (Bloch) is a fast growing good quality fish that is readily cultured in intensive systems in the South Asian region and in ...

Effects of low-salinity acclimation on the Na+/K+ ATPase activity and expression of osmoregulatory-related genes in large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea)

open access: yesAquaculture Reports, 2022
Large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea) is one of the most commercially important marine fish in southeast China. The white spot disease frequently occurs in large yellow croaker leading to a devastating loss.

Molecular characterization of an actin depolymerizing factor fromCryptocaryon irritans

open access: yesParasitology, 2013
SUMMARYActin depolymerizing factors regulate actin dynamics involved in cellular processes such as morphogenesis, motility, development and infection. Here, a novel actin depolymerizing factor gene (CiADF2) was cloned from the cDNA library ofCryptocaryon irritans, a parasitic ciliate causing cryptocaryonosis.

Sequence characteristics and expression profiles of Pax-5 and Blimp-1 in Epinephelus coioides following parasite infection and bacterial vaccination

open access: yesAquaculture Reports, 2021
In mammals, the transcription factors paired box-5 (Pax-5) and B-lymphocyte-induced maturation protein-1 (Blimp-1) maintain strict command of B-cell differentiation from hematopoietic stem cells to plasma cells.
