Cryptorchidism in meningomyelocele
The Journal of Pediatrics, 1981investigation, we do not know if these PFT abnormalit ies will persist. Several other childhood illnesses which affect pulmonary function are related to adult chronic lung disease. 11 We do not know if increased or decreased therapy for JRA will alter these abnormal PFT results.

Pathogenesis of Cryptorchidism
Hormone Research, 1977Cryptorchidism was induced experimentally by treating pregnant mice on the 14th day of pregnancy with 5 mg estrogen. Testes from cryptorchid and control newborn and adult mice were investigated with radioimmunoassay and electron microscopy. It was concluded that a normal Leydig cell function plays a decisive role in testicular descent.

Semicastration in cryptorchidism of adults is the preferential therapy. A positive effect on fertility is usually to be expected. An aggravation did not occur in any case. If for any reason, in cases of cryptorchidism or especially if only one testis is present orchidopexy is carried out, there should be a periodical check-up of the patients in order ...

Nomenclature of cryptorchidism [PDF]
Despite the fact that cryptorchidism is a common congenital anomaly, our understanding of this problem is hampered by confusion and uncertainty regarding diagnosis and treatment. A major factor producing this confusion is the lack of a common terminology that describes to the reader (or listener) exactly what the author means by a given term. Herein is

The term cryptorchidism refers to the condition of abnormal testicular descent (TD). In this situation the testis is âhiddenâ and it cannot be identified in its normal position that is inside the scrotum. In fact the term âcryptorchidismâ literally means âhidden testicleâ and is often used interchangeably with the term âundescended

The forces guiding testicular descent have not been completely elucidated. Both testosterone and anti-Müllerian hormone might play a role. Available evidence suggests that malfunction of the testes of some sort usually precedes maldescent. The proper management of cryptorchidism has long been a controversial issue.

This paper is a historic review of two studies of the treatment of cryptorchidism. One was concluded 20 years ago with native LHRH, while the other took place 14 years ago and involved one of the potent LHRH analogues. The first study was initiated at the end of 1971-at a time when the different modes of action of the decapeptide were by far not ...

Cryptorchidism is the most common genitourinary disorder of childhood. Even though its incidence has changed only slightly over the years, the number of operations for cryptorchid testes has tripled. Better understanding of the natural history of cryptorchidism, as well as changes that occur in testicular histology both in the cryptorchid and the ...

Cryptorchidism and Hypospadias
Journal of Urology, 2007We quantified the burden of cryptorchidism and hypospadias in the United States by identifying trends in the use of health care resources and estimating the economic impact of the disease. The analytical methods used to generate these results were described previously.Cryptorchidism is managed almost exclusively in the outpatient setting and ...
