Crystal Growth and Luminescence Properties of Dy3+ and Ge4+ Co-Doped Bi4Si3O12 Single Crystals for High Power Warm White LED

open access: yesCrystals, 2017
Φ1 inch Dy3+ and Ge4+ co-doped bismuth silicate (Bi4Si3O12, BSO) single crystals with the length of 80–100 mm were successfully grown by Bridgman method. They are transparent, free of cracks and inclusions.

Suppression of the surface roughness by adjusting the temperature distribution in the top-seeded solution growth of SiC crystal

open access: yesJournal of Materiomics
Spontaneous nucleation of SiC particles and giant macroscopic steps result in the surface roughness of the grown crystal for the top-seeded solution growth of SiC crystal. To suppress the surface roughness, the temperature gradient was carefully adjusted

Halogen Bonding in Crystal Engineering [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section A Foundations of Crystallography, 2005
The term halogen bonding encompasses any non-covalent interaction involving halogens as electrophilic species. High strength and directionality are the remarkable features of halogen bonding that fully justify its use as a primary intermolecular interaction to dictate molecular self-assembly processes.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.
