Synergy of photocatalysis and fuel cells: A chronological review on efficient designs, potential materials and emerging applications

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2022
The rising demand of energy and lack of clean water are two major concerns of modern world. Renewable energy sources are the only way out in order to provide energy in a sustainable manner for the ever-increasing demands of the society.

On the growth of ammonium nitrate(III) crystals [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
The growth rate of NH4NO3 phase III crystals is measured and interpreted using two models. The first is a standard crystal growth model based on a spiral growth mechanism, the second outlines the concept of kinetical roughening.

Mathematical crystal growth I

open access: yesDiscrete Applied Mathematics, 1981
AbstractA method is given for computing the generating function for a sequence of polynomials representing a growing crystal. The younger twin of this paper presented a non-constructive proof that the generating function is rational.

Addition to New Strategy for Black Phosphorus Crystal Growth through Ternary Clathrate [PDF]

open access: yesCrystal Growth & Design, 2017
We are reporting a new synthetic strategy to grow large-sized black phosphorus (Black-P) crystals through a ternary clathrate Sn24P22–xI8, under lower synthetic temperature and pressure.

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Molecular bases of circadian magnesium rhythms across eukaryotes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Circadian rhythms in intracellular [Mg2+] exist across eukaryotic kingdoms. Central roles for Mg2+ in metabolism suggest that Mg2+ rhythms could regulate daily cellular energy and metabolism. In this Perspective paper, we propose that ancestral prokaryotic transport proteins could be responsible for mediating Mg2+ rhythms and posit a feedback model ...

Control of Intrinsic Defects in Lithium Niobate Single Crystal for Optoelectronic Applications

open access: yesCrystals, 2017
A single crystal of lithium niobate is an important optoelectronic material. It can be grown from direct melt only in a lithium deficient non-stoichiometric form as its stoichiometric composition exhibits incongruent melting.

Drug-Inclusive Inorganic–Organic Hybrid Systems for the Controlled Release of the Osteoporosis Drug Zoledronate

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
Bisphosphonates (BPs) are common pharmaceutical treatments used for calcium- and bone-related disorders, the principal one being osteoporosis. Their antiresorptive action is related to their high affinity for hydroxyapatite, the main inorganic ...

Identification of a spatio-temporal model of crystal growth based on boundary curvature [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A new method of identifying the spatio-temporal transition rule of crystal growth is introduced based on the connection between growth kinetics and dentritic morphology.

Peptide‐based ligand antagonists block a Vibrio cholerae adhesin

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The structure of a peptide‐binding domain of the Vibrio cholerae adhesin FrhA was solved by X‐ray crystallography, revealing how the inhibitory peptide AGYTD binds tightly at its Ca2+‐coordinated pocket. Structure‐guided design incorporating D‐amino acids enhanced binding affinity, providing a foundation for developing anti‐adhesion therapeutics ...
