Dual process for improved recovery of essential oil and pectin from citrus waste

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Technology &Biotechnology, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Citrus essential oils (EO), particularly orange essential oil (OEO) and pectin, are high‐value chemical products widely used across various industries, including pharmaceuticals, food and beverages, detergents, and cosmetics. These compounds are present in the residual by‐products generated by juice production industries, and their ...

Low‐Hysteresis Cellulose‐Based Hydrogels for Strain Detecting

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
Low‐hysteresis hydrogel with high cellulose content is prepared. The modified cellulose is prepared through a sequential periodate oxidation and borohydride reduction process. The hydrogel can be used as a strain sensor with a gauge factor of 1.1 in the 0%–300% sensing range.

The geology of the Aracruz pluton (Espírito Santo, Brazil), a Cambrian post-orogenic intrusion in the aftermath of Gondwana amalgamation

open access: yesJournal of Maps
We present the first geological map of the Aracruz pluton (Espírito Santo, Brazil), which belongs to the late Cambrian post-orogenic suite that intruded the Nova Venécia metapelites and Ediacaran syn-orogenic S-type granites of the Araçuaí belt.

Simultaneous Removal of Copper, Lead, and Zinc From Water Using a Novel Magnetized Lippia javanica Biosorbent

open access: yesNano Select, EarlyView.
A novel magnetized Lippia javanica biosorbent is synthesized for efficient, simultaneous removal of Cu(II), Pb(II), and Zn(II) from water. This sustainable material exhibits high adsorption capacity, rapid magnetic separation, and excellent reusability over multiple cycles, demonstrating great potential for practical water purification applications ...

Magma Differentiation in Dynamic Mush Domains From the Perspective of Multivariate Statistics: Open‐ Versus Closed‐System Evolution

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems
Open‐conduit conditions characterize several of the most hazardous and active volcanic systems of basaltic composition worldwide, persistently refilled by magmatic inputs. Eruptive products with similar bulk compositions, chemically buffered by continual

Anisotropy Analysis of Bamboo and Tooth Using 4‐Angle Polarization Micro‐Spectroscopy

open access: yesNano Select, EarlyView.
Super‐resolution via orientation: spatial distribution of specific molecular vibrations are revealed at 1/20 of the diffraction limit. ABSTRACT To investigate the anisotropic properties of biomaterials, two distinct classes are considered as follows: polymer‐based (cellulose in plants) and crystalline‐based (enamel in teeth), each demonstrating ...

The role of gravity on macrosegregation in alloys [PDF]

open access: yes
During dendritic solidification liquid flow is induced both by buoyancy forces and solidification shrinkage. There is strong evidence that the major reason for the liquid flow is the former, i.e., thermosolutal convection. In the microgravity environment,

A taxonomic update of the genus Clavija (Theophrastaceae) in Colombia and Ecuador

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Two species of Clavija are described as new to science: C. neivea (Department Huila Colombia), which is similar to C. pungens (Willd. ex Roem. & Schult.) Decne. of coastal Ecuador, but distinguished by its chiefly elliptic leaf blades with less serrate margins and 4‐merous flowers; C. zamorae (Prov.
