Semiautomatic Single Crystal Orienter

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1963
A semiautomatic method is described which enables the orientation of metal single crystals to be rapidly determined to within ±1°; it is a scanning method and requires a three-circle goniometer with automatic drives on two circles at right angles to each other, and a fast acting recorder.

Denoising of crystal orientation maps

Journal of Applied Crystallography, 2019
This paper compares several well known sliding-window methods for denoising crystal orientation data with variational methods adapted from mathematical image analysis. The variational methods turn out to be much more powerful in terms of preserving low-angle grain boundaries and filling holes of non-indexed orientations.

Single Crystal Fabrication/Orientation

2015
The production of small spherical single crystals from Au wire provides a convenient way of doing STM) experiments on the various single crystal plane facets which are exposed on the surface (Maksymovych in private communication [1]).

Orientation-induced Nucleation in Polymer Crystallization

Nature, 1966
Abstract Crystallization kinetics of polymers crystallizing from the melt are influenced by the mechanical history of the sample. Strain free samples show a larger crystallization half time than samples in which the strain has not been completely removed by relaxation at a suitable temperature.

Crystal Orientation and Interference Color

2013
In this chapter we prepare the ground for computer-integrated polarization microscopy (CIP), a method for optical texture analysis and optical orientation imaging (Panozzo Heilbronner and Pauli 1993). The CIP method uses the relation between crystallographic orientations and the interference colors as they appears when thin sections are viewed in the ...

Orientation of Crystal Ball Events

IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 1983
The orientation of high spin nuclei may be estimated from the angular distribution of the deexcitation gamma rays in a 4 pi multi detector system. The calculation is given for those cases in which the initial spin of the decaying nucleus is known to be perpendicular to the beam axis.

Systematic determination of crystal orientation

Journal of Scientific Instruments, 1941
A description is given of a graphical method for the determination of crystal orientation which has been employed with success at the National Physical Laboratory. General formulae are also given for the determination of orientation by straightforward calculation. The graphical method and the general formulae are applicable to all crystal systems.
