Automating the application of smart materials for protein crystallization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The fabrication and validation of the first semi-liquid nonprotein nucleating agent to be administered automatically to crystallization trials is reported. This research builds upon prior demonstration of the suitability of molecularly imprinted polymers

Mesocrystals: inorganic superstructures made by highly parallel crystallization and controlled alignment.

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, 2005
Controlled self-organization of nanoparticles can lead to new materials. The colloidal crystallization of non-spherical nanocrystals is a reaction channel in many crystallization reactions.

Study on isothermal crystallization kinetics of Zr55.7Cu22.4Ni7.2Al14.7 bulk amorphous alloy

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Zr55.7Cu22.4Ni7.2Al14.7 alloy bars were prepared by copper mold suction casting, and the structure and thermodynamic properties of the prepared specimens were characterized by X-ray diffractometer and differential scanning calorimeter.

Effects of interedge scattering on the Wigner crystallization in graphene nanoribbons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We investigate the effects of coupling between the two zigzag edges of graphene nanoribbons on the Wigner crystallization of electrons and holes using a combination of tight-binding, mean field Hubbard and many-body configuration interaction methods.

Decorated Geometric Crystals, Polyhedral and Monomial Realizations of Crystal Bases [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
We shall show that for type $A_n$ the realization of crystal bases obtained from the decorated geometric crystals intorduced by Berenstein and Kazhdan coincides with our polyhedral realizations of crystal bases. We also observe certain relations of decorations and monomial realizations of crystal bases.

Crystallization of Isotactic Poly(methylmethacrylate) in Monolayers and Thin Films [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
Langmuir-Blodgett monolayers of isotactic PMMA exhibit a pressure-induced transition upon compression, that can be described in terms of a two-dimensional crystallization process, analogous to a normal melt crystallization.

Isothermal Crystallization Kinetics of Poly(lactic acid) Stereocomplex/Graphene Nanocomposites [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2017
The isothermal crystallization kinetics of PLA stereocomplex (scPLA) and scPLA/graphene oxide nanocomposites was investigated. scPLA was prepared by symmetric blending the two isomers, PLLA and PDLA and the scPLA nanocomposite by polymerization of the ...

Geometric Crystals on Schubert Varieties [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2003
We define geometric crystals and unipotent crystals for arbitrary Kac-Moody groups and describe geometric and unipotent crystal structures on the Schubert varieties.

Quasi-crystals for arbitrary root systems and associated generalizations of the hypoplactic monoid [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
The hypoplactic monoid was introduced by Krob and Thibon through a presentation and through quasi-ribbon tableaux and an insertion algorithm. Just as Kashiwara crystals enriched the structure of the plactic monoid and allowed its generalization, the first and third authors of this paper introduced a construction of the hypoplactic monoid by identifying
