Thermodynamic Behavior of Erythromycin Thiocyanate Dihydrate in Six Pure Solvents and Two Binary Solvents

open access: yesMolecules
Thermodynamic parameters play a crucial role in analyzing and optimizing crystallization processes. In this investigation, the solubility profiles of erythromycin thiocyanate dihydrate were determined gravimetrically under atmospheric pressure (0.1 MPa ...

Microstructure, Thermal Transport, and Dry‐Sliding Tribology of Powder‐Metallurgy Al7075 Composites Reinforced With Sol–Gel‐Derived ZnO–rGO Hybrid Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Sol–gel‐derived ZnO–rGO hybrid nanoparticles enable Al7075 powder‐metallurgy composites to achieve concurrent gains in hardness and thermal conductivity while markedly lowering friction and wear. The hybrid architecture couples ZnO‐based load support with rGO‐assisted lamellar sliding and heat spreading, revealing a promising route toward lightweight ...

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

ON MOSAIC CRYSTALS

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1929
Very little progress has been made during the last decade toward a theoretical understanding of the physical properties of matter in the solid state. The reasons for this stagnation are very clearly presented in a recent paper by A. Smekal.(1) According to Smekal, the properties of solids can be arranged in two large groups as follows.

Ferroelectricity in Antiferromagnetic Wurtzite Nitrides

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We establish MnSiN2${\rm MnSiN}_2$ and MnGeN2${\rm MnGeN}_2$ as aristotypes of a new multiferroic wurtzite family that simultaneously exhibits ferroelectricity and antiferromagnetism with altermagnetic spin splitting. By strategically substituting alkaline‐earth metals, we predict new materials with coexisting switchable polarization, spin texture, and

Role of Intrinsic Electron Trapping in Negative Charging of Amorphous Alumina

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intrinsic electron trapping in amorphous Al2O3 is examined using hybrid‐DFT models spanning a wide density range. Both spontaneous and thermally activated trapping are identified, with pronounced spontaneous localization in dense, partly crystallized structures.

Liquid Phase Transmission Electron Microscopy: A Window into the Early Stages of Complex Material Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid‐phase transmission electron microscopy enables direct observation of nucleation and growth processes in solution. This review is dedicated to the remembrance of Helmut Cölfen and highlights recent studies on complex materials—oxides, biominerals, organic–inorganic crystals—which were central to his research activity. It summarizes key milestones,
