Dipole-Center in ZnSe Crystals
It has been found that the well-known luminescence band with a maximum near 630 nm in undoped ZnSe crystals is associated with the recombination of free electrons at localized holes and free holes at localized electrons. The result was achieved by comparing experimental values for the stationary luminescence intensity with the phosphorescence and ...

fDETECT webserver: fast predictor of propensity for protein production, purification, and crystallization [PDF]
Background: Development of predictors of propensity of protein sequences for successful crystallization has been actively pursued for over a decade. A few novel methods that expanded the scope of these predictions to address additional steps of protein ...

Crystallization of the Lewis-Wahnstr\"{o}m ortho-terphenyl model
Crystallization is observed during long molecular dynamics simulations of bent trimers, a molecular model proposed by Lewis and Wahnstr\"{o}m for ortho-terphenyl.

Highly-crystallized quaternary chalcopyrite nanocrystals via a high-temperature dissolution–reprecipitation route [PDF]
Quaternary chalcopyrite (Cu2CoSnS4, Cu2ZnSnS4) nanocrystals displaying high crystallization and controlled morphology were synthesized via a high-temperature growth regime achieved by dissolution–reprecipitation of tailored ultrafine precursors in the ...

Peptide‐based ligand antagonists block a Vibrio cholerae adhesin
The structure of a peptide‐binding domain of the Vibrio cholerae adhesin FrhA was solved by X‐ray crystallography, revealing how the inhibitory peptide AGYTD binds tightly at its Ca2+‐coordinated pocket. Structure‐guided design incorporating D‐amino acids enhanced binding affinity, providing a foundation for developing anti‐adhesion therapeutics ...

Interfacial Crystallization within Liquid Marbles
We report interfacial crystallization in the droplets of saline solutions placed on superhydrophobic surfaces and liquid marbles filled with the saline. Evaporation of saline droplets deposited on superhydrophobic surface resulted in the formation of cup-

Effects of Si solute on the glass formation and atomic structure of Pd liquid
Molecular dynamics simulations were performed to study the effects of Si solute on the glass formation and crystallization of Pd liquid. Pure Pd sample prepared by quenching process with cooling rate of $10^{13}$ K/s can be in an amorphous state but the ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

The crystallization of asymmetric patchy models for globular proteins in solution
Asymmetric patchy particle models have recently been shown to describe the crystallization of small globular proteins with near quantitative accuracy. Here, we investigate how asymmetry in patch geometry and bond energy generally impact the phase diagram

Novel inorganic binary mixture for low‐temperature heat storage applications [PDF]
In this study, an inorganic mixture based on bischofite (industrial by‐product) was developed and characterized for its application as a phase change material for low‐temperature thermal energy storage. The most appropriate composition was established as
