Low Symmetry Cage Complexes Formed by Metalation of Symmetric Hexa‐Cationic Organic Cages

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Threefold symmetric hexa‐cationic hydrazone cages coordinate a range of transition metal ions upon deprotonation. When the cage contains ethyl solubilising groups the expected threefold symmetric cage complexes are observed, however when the cage contains alkoxy solubilising groups persistent low symmetry cage complexes form.

Discrete Actuation of Water‐Responsive Crystalline Metal–Peptide Frameworks

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We design metal–peptide frameworks that exhibit either continuous or discrete threshold water‐responsive actuation by tuning water‐binding affinities and structural dynamics. In the continuous actuation mode, water molecules evaporate sequentially due to varying interaction strengths and structural roles.

Potent Fluorescent Probe for Target‐Engagement Studies of Allosteric Pyruvate Kinase Modulators

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
LumiPK, a novel environment‐sensitive fluorescent tracer, enables direct monitoring of allosteric ligand engagement with pyruvate kinase fused with nanoluciferase (Nluc), focusing on the liver isoform (PKL). In NanoBRET, and fluorescence indicator displacement assays, LumiPK shows high affinity and validates known allosteric modulators of PKL.

Accessing Metal‐Containing Species in Tin–Lead Perovskite Precursor Solutions via Molecular Strategies Guided by the Hard–Soft Acid–Base Principle

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Molecular strategies guided by the hard–soft acid–base (HSAB) principle enable precise control over metal‐based species in perovskite precursor solutions. This approach enhances the quality of narrow‐bandgap (1.26 eV) mixed tin–lead perovskite films and improves the performance of the resulting solar cell devices.

Synthesis and Application of Bioactive N‐Functionalized Aziridines

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
This review discusses modern synthetic methods for the preparation of aziridine‐containing small molecules, including biocatalytic, electrocatalytic, and photocatalytic strategies. We highlight the compatibility of various synthetic methods with control of the exocyclic N‐substituent.
