Copernican crystallography [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 1992
Redundancies are pointed out in the widely used extension of the crystallographic concept of Bravais class to quasiperiodic materials. Such pitfalls can be avoided by abandoning the obsolete paradigm that bases ordinary crystallography on microscopic periodicity.

SPIKES IN COSMIC CRYSTALLOGRAPHY [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics D, 2002
If the universe is multiply connected and small the sky shows multiple images of cosmic objects, correlated by the covering group of the 3-manifold used to model it. These correlations were originally thought to manifest as spikes in pair separation histograms (PSH) built from suitable catalogues.

Crystallography on curved surfaces [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2006
We study static and dynamical properties that distinguish 2D crystals constrained to lie on a curved substrate from their flat-space counterparts. A generic mechanism of dislocation unbinding in the presence of varying Gaussian curvature is presented in the context of a model surface amenable to full analytical treatment.

Crystallography in the 21st century [PDF]

open access: yesIUCrJ, 2015
The field of crystallography, which has had a major impact on the sciences in the last 100 years, is continuing to expand scientific horizons as technical and conceptual boundaries are overcome. Structure-function-dynamics will become an integrated theme for many studies as will obtaining structures without the 'benevolent tyranny' of crystals.

Abstract OR-2: The Formation of Dps-DNA Complexes under Different Conditions According to Cryo-EM and SAXS [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Biomedicine, 2021
Background: The effect of Dps-DNA co-crystals formation, which occurs in stressed Escherichia coli cells exposed to extreme conditions, is well described in the literature.
