Crystallography of Representative MOFs Based on Pillared Cyanonickelate (PICNIC) Architecture

open access: yesCrystals, 2016
The pillared layer motif is a commonly used route to porous coordination polymers or metal organic frameworks (MOFs). Materials based on the pillared cyano-bridged architecture, [Ni’(L)Ni(CN)4]n (L = pillar organic ligands), also known as PICNICs, have ...

A Short Lecture on Topological Crystallography and a Discrete Surface Theory [PDF]

open access: yesAnam Lecture Notes in Mathematics, An introduction to discrete differential geometry, Volume 2, 83-147 (2020), 2020
This is an unrefereed lecture note based on lectures in 'Introductory Workshop on Discrete Differential Geometry' at Korea University on January 21--24, 2019. In this note, we discuss topological crystallography, which is a mathematical theory of crystal structures.

Beyond crystallography: Diffractive imaging using coherent x-ray light sources

open access: yesScience, 2015
X-ray crystallography has been central to the development of many fields of science over the past century. It has now matured to a point that as long as good-quality crystals are available, their atomic structure can be routinely determined in three ...

Powder Metallurgy and Additive Manufacturing of High‐Nitrogen Alloyed FeCr(Si)N Stainless Steel

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The alloying element Nitrogen enhances stainless steel strength, corrosion resistance, and stabilizes austenite. This study develops austenitic FeCr(Si)N steel production via powder metallurgy. Fe20Cr and Si3N4 are hot isostatically pressed, creating an austenitic microstructure.
