Long-Term Supervised Cardiac Rehabilitation After Balloon Pulmonary Angioplasty Improved Residual Exercise Pulmonary Hypertension in Patients With Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension: A Two-Case Report. [PDF]

open access: yesPulm Circ
ABSTRACT Abnormal pulmonary hemodynamics during exercise may persist even after balloon pulmonary angioplasty (BPA) for inoperable chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH). We report two female patients who underwent long‐term supervised outpatient cardiac rehabilitation (CR) after BPA with continuous pulmonary vasodilators.

The effects of sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors on the ‘forgotten’ right ventricle

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1045-1058, April 2025.
Abstract With the progress in diagnosis, treatment and imaging techniques, there is a growing recognition that impaired right ventricular (RV) function profoundly affects the prognosis of patients with heart failure (HF), irrespective of their left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF).

Health‐related quality of life and hospitalizations in chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension versus idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension: an analysis from the Pulmonary Hypertension Association Registry (PHAR)

open access: yesPulmonary Circulation, 2021
Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is a rare, morbid, potentially curable subtype of pulmonary hypertension that negatively impacts health‐related quality of life (HRQoL).

Baseline Clinical Characteristics and Incidence of Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension Patients in Latvia, 2019–2020

open access: yesMedicina, 2023
Background: Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is a rare and progressive condition; however, the true characteristics of CTEPH are still unknown, as notable regional variations exist in terms of patients’ age, baseline hemodynamic data,

Quality of initial anticoagulant treatment and risk of CTEPH after acute pulmonary embolism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Background The pathophysiology of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is not fully understood. Poor-quality anticoagulation may contribute to a higher risk of CTEPH after acute pulmonary embolism (PE), partly explaining the transition ...

Contemporary Economic, Hospitalization, and Mortality Burden Among Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension Patients: A Real‐World US Claims Data Analysis

open access: yesPulmonary Circulation, Volume 16, Issue 4, October 2026.
ABSTRACT This study quantified the recent real‐world burden of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) using US real‐world data. Adults (18+) with treated PAH were identified from the MarketScan Commercial/Medicare Databases using a claims‐based algorithm requiring pulmonary hypertension diagnosis, PAH‐specific treatment, and right heart catheterization ...

Prevalence of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension after acute pulmonary embolism. Prevalence of CTEPH after pulmonary embolism.

open access: yes, 2014
International audience: Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) has been estimated to occur in 0.1-0.5% of patients who survive a pulmonary embolism (PE), but more recent prospective studies suggest that its incidence may be much higher ...

Unilateral Pulmonary Artery Lesion in an Immunocompromised Patient

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
We report a case of a unilateral septic pulmonary artery thrombus presenting as pulmonary infarction and pulmonary hypertension in an immunocompromised host. ABSTRACT We report a 62‐year‐old man with myelodysplastic syndrome on immunosuppressive therapy who presented with right lung consolidation and neutropenia. Despite broad antimicrobial therapy for
